Shenzhen, China: Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) is aggressive in its pursuit in its acquisition of Shenzhen prospects for corporate meetings and incentives as it joins Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) for a Business Networking Session in the Chinese sub-provincial city. Organized by the Sarawak Tourism Board, the Business Networking Session was conducted on the 19th and 20th December 2018. The event which took place at the JW Marriott Hotel, Shenzhen, also coincided with the launch of the ‘Visit Sarawak Campaign’ (VSC) on the evening of 19th December 2018.
The campaign aiming to brand Sarawak as a destination for culture, adventure, nature, food and festivals – all unique to Malaysia’s largest state. Kuching- its capital city and gateway beckons visitors to recharge in a new world. With the campaign’s beguiling tagline “More to Discover”, Sarawak Tourism is hopeful for a boost in the sector coming from Shenzhen. Its strategic location- only a 4-hour direct flight from to Kuching (4X weekly), is a key influencing factor for SCB to potentially gain a rise in corporate meetings and incentives from China, particularly from Shenzhen.
Endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Sarawak, the business networking session was also supported by members of the Sarawak Tourism Federation (STF) and the Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB). The 2-day event witnessed the amalgamation of Malaysia’s tourism and Business Events arm as members participated in a dynamic B2B session; reiterating Sarawak’s collective commitment to advocate Sarawak’s unique tourism attractions and Business Events opportunities.
Chief Operating Officer of SCB, Amelia Roziman is optimistic about the future. She said, “The State’s creative tourism initiative to ignite new strategic alliances that bridges Shenzhen to Sarawak is very exciting for all of us. In the capacity of SCB, we are determined to support this through fostering partnerships via Business Events as that will lead to yield beyond tourism- such as bringing in new foreign exchange and collaborations, goodwill and international branding and knowledge transfer between States.”
In conjunction with the business networking session in Shenzhen, SCB is offering exclusive corporate meetings and incentives packages for groups of 40 pax, 80 pax and 150 pax and above from Shenzhen. The attractive offer for Meeting & Incentive Groups is available upon submission of a request before 31st August 2019 and travel validity is by 31st December 2019.
