Sixteen airlines led by the China Southern Airlines<.> have uniformed airfare prices in Guangzhou this month, in a bid to regularize the market and increase economic returns,eastday.com reported recently.

China Southern Airlines will take the lead in regularizing the local aviation market, according to the Guangzhou branch of the company.

From the beginning of March, China Southern Airlines stopped offering discounts on air tickets on several air routes including Beijing, Shanghai and Kunming, and recorded a 30 percent in earnings for the month.

Other airline companies also reaped the rewards of regularizing sales, with the income rising by varying degrees.

The 16 airlines reached consensus on uniform air fares. For example, the fare from Guangzhou to Beijing is 880 yuan (US$106).

All the airlines should communicate more closely with each other and promote greater order in the marketplace, said an industry analyst.
