Hyatt Regency Beijing Wangjing welcomes Till Martin as Opening General Manager

Hailing from Germany, Till Martin has an illustrious hospitality career and rich experience with Hyatt Corporation spanning more than 20 years.

BEIJING – Mr. Till Martin has been manning the helm as Hyatt Regency Beijing Wangjing‘s Opening General Manager since November 2016, bringing with him a rare passion and expertise to the opening of the hotel. Scheduled to debut in the second quarter 2018, the first Hyatt Regency in the Chinese capital is designed by globally renowned architect Kengo Kuma and Associates. The hotel concept creates a refreshing Urban Forest in the vibrant Wangjing Central Business District.

Hailing from Germany, Till Martin has an illustrious hospitality career and rich experience with Hyatt Corporation spanning more than 20 years. He was most recently the Hotel Manager of Grand Hyatt Beijing, in charge of the entire hotel operations and a 900-strong team. Mr. Martin brings a deep understanding of the local market and authentic Hyatt hospitality to his current role as General Manager of Hyatt Regency Beijing Wangjing.

Mr. Martin began his career at Hyatt Regency Cologne, Germany, in 1996. His next move took him across Germany to become Restaurant Manager at Hyatt Regency Mainz in 1998. He later moved to the United States to assume the role of Assistant Restaurant Manager/Sommelier at Park Hyatt Chicago, before heading back to Germany as Assistant Director of Food & Beverage at Grand Hyatt Berlin.

He returned to Hyatt Regency Mainz in 2004 as Director of Food & Beverage, a position he held for four years. Mr. Martin relocated to the Middle East to take up the role of Executive Assistant Manager — Food & Beverage at Grand Hyatt Dubai from 2008-2010, and on to Asia to take up a similar role at Grand Hyatt Seoul from 2010-2013. He moved to China in 2013 to become Hotel Manager at Grand Hyatt Beijing.

My family and I are delighted to continue our journey in Beijing, which we have called our home for four years,” says Till Martin. “I feel grateful to be selected as General Manager of the first Hyatt Regency in this energizing key gateway city and look forward to bringing Hyatt’s authentic hospitality to the Wangjing community.”

Mr. Martin leads a team of 427 associates at the landmark Hyatt Regency Beijing Wangjing. Guests are welcomed into a urban oasis, a refreshing counterpoint to the surrounding Central Business District, where age-old tradition merges gracefully with creative innovation.

Award-winning architect Kengo Kuma’s design for the hotel is inspired by the Chinese “Sanhe Yuan“, a three-sided courtyard style home embracing a green garden. With its unique location between green parks, Kengo Kuma has created an “Urban Forest” defined by a contemporary chic design and natural materials as a refreshing backdrop to the intuitive hospitality experience.

Hyatt Regency Beijing Wangjing is centrally located in the heart of the Wangjing Central Business District, the second CBD of Beijing. The cosmopolitan neighborhood boasts a multi-cultural international community, eclectic dining and a renowned contemporary arts scene. The name Wangjing was given by Shen Kuo, a famous minister of the Northern Song Dynasty, who passed the scenic village that had a “view over the capital” and recorded it in his Dream Brook Sketchbook. The first Hyatt Regency in the Chinese capital is set to further enrich the lifestyle of Wangjing and connect guests with unbeatable local experiences.

The hotel is conveniently accessed via the Airport Express and is a short stroll from Futong subway station on Line14 and the 798 Art District. Beijing’s excellent underground transportation network provides easy access to the hip Nanluoguxiang shopping street, the nightlife hub of Sanlitun, Olympic Park and other popular sightseeing and lifestyle destinations.
