CLIA puts river cruising in spotlight at first Asia River Cruise Conference

The Destination Forum will provide insight into the cruising product on offer in Asian hotspots such as Vietnam and Cambodia, while a trade fair and hosted dinners will offer plenty of time for networking.

As river cruising booms in Asia, CLIA Australasia has announced the inaugural CLIA Asia River Cruise Conference and Destination Forum will be held in Vietnam in 2018.

The conference will take place from April 10 to 15, 2018, in Ho Chi Minh City, and will include a three-night sample cruise on the Mekong River from Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam to Phnom Penh in Cambodia including a visit to a floating market, a tribal village and a cat fish farm.

The conference component will be held over two days at Le Meridien Saigon Hotel including sessions to help agents identify potential river cruise customers and learn more about the wide variety of experiences offered on a river cruise holiday, with a specific focus on the burgeoning Asian market.

The Destination Forum will provide insight into the cruising product on offer in Asian hotspots such as Vietnam and Cambodia, while a trade fair and hosted dinners will offer plenty of time for networking.

CLIA Australasia & Asia Managing Director Joel Katz said CLIA was always looking for ways to expand its events program to offer exciting, new opportunities to its members and partners.

River cruising is booming in Asia and with more and more cruise operators focusing their attention on the region’s rivers, there is a whole new world of opportunity opening up for agents selling river cruise. The CLIA Asia River Cruise Conference and Destination Forum will offer a fantastic opportunity for member agents to learn about the wide variety of experiences offered on a river cruise while also getting to experience the joy of an Asian river cruise first hand,” Mr Katz said.

CLIA Head of International Training & Development Peter Kollar will attend the conference with international speakers set to be announced in the coming weeks.

Available to CLIA Member Travel Agents only, all delegates will receive a total of 60 CLIA points for attending and with limited spots, it’s a first in first served basis.

Earlybird tickets include conference registration, twin share accommodation on a Pandaw Mekong River cruise with transfers and meals as specified in the itinerary.
