Shama journeys through the neighbourhood with guests to discover hidden gems

Fun-filled activity offered as part of "no boundaries" programme to fast-track residents' social lives; Guests indulge in an outdoor treasure hunt event organised by Shama to learn more about the local culture and the neighbourhood.

Hong Kong – As a lifestyle provider, Shama offers not only serviced apartments that epitomise comfort, style and luxury, but also ways for its residents to enhance their lives by creating a sense of belonging in their new environment. As part of the brand’s exclusive “no boundaries” programme, Shama recently organised the “Shama City Challenge” outdoor treasure hunt event, allowing residents staying in different Shama properties in Hong Kong to gather together to experience Hong Kong’s authentic street culture, learn more about the Central and Sheung Wan neighbourhoods, and to interact with new friends and expand their social network.

The “Shama City Challenge” is an evolved version of the regular “hoodtour” that Shama provides to each new residents. Over 30 Shama residents and friends formed teams and visited checkpoints around Central and Sheung Wan to unlock some of the hidden treasures within the neighbourhood – from learning the history of the former Central School and revisiting the life of locals back in the 1960s to trying the famous deep-fried fish balls with clam sauce, finding one of the oldest banyan trees in Blake Garden and printing their own Shama cards using the traditional letterpress machine. The “Shama City Challenge” concluded with a prize presentation ceremony at Shama Central. The two teams with the highest scores were awarded a two-night stay at Shama Sukhumvit Bangkok and Hotel 108 Hong Kong, respectively. A special prize of a two-night stay at Amari Yangshuo was given to the team with the most creative photo taken at the photo challenge spots.

no boundaries” is a lifestyle programme exclusively for Shama residents, which fast-tracks their social lives by helping them to get to know the neighbourhood, the city and the Shama community in which they live so they can live like a local. The “no boundaries” programme comprises four key elements: social highlights, “hoodtour“, recommendations and residents’ activities. These include sand art jamming workshops, potluck parties, cultural immersion and cooking classes and are organised on a regular basis at various Shama properties across Hong Kong, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Bangkok.

ONYX currently manages 17 serviced apartments under the Shama brand across Asia Pacific, including eight in the development pipeline. Most recently, Shama was awarded “Best Serviced Apartment Operator of Asia” for the fifth time at the AHF Asia Hotel Awards.
