Galaxy Entertainment Group becomes first in Macau to accept WeChat Pay

Macau visitors can now enjoy the convenience of WeChat pay at hotels, restaurants, entertainment outlets and more across Galaxy Macau, Broadway Macau and StarWorld Hotel

MACAU – Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) launches a partnership with ICBC (Macau) and WeChat, making it the first hospitality and entertainment group in Macau to accept WeChat pay throughout its properties, commence with a variety of 136 outlets across GEG’s spectacular portfolio of world-class hotels, dining destinations, spas, entertainment facilities and retailers.

GEG’s first-in-Macau partnership with ICBC (Macau) and WeChat answers the needs of Mainland Chinese visitors to Macau, who overwhelmingly prefer to pay with e-wallets such as WeChat Pay. More than three in four metro consumers in China (76%) use mobile wallets, as they seek easy and seamless ways to pay when travelling.

To deliver a more convenient and innovative experience to Macau visitors, GEG is first launching WeChat pay across its three flagship properties — Galaxy Macau, Broadway Macau and StarWorld Hotel. Guests can now pay with WeChat Pay at a wide range of establishments, with a total of 136 outlets launching the service in phases, including:

  • Premier hotels The Ritz-Carlton, Macau, JW Marriott Hotel Macau, Banyan Tree Macau, Hotel Okura Macau, Galaxy Hotel, Broadway Hotel and StarWorld Hotel
  • Fine dining restaurants such as Lai Heen, 8½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA, Man Ho Chinese Restaurant and Yamazato
  • Stylish cafes like the Café de Paris Monte-Carlo and Passion. by Gérard Dubois
  • Family-friendly, all-day dining outlets Urban Kitchen, Festiva and Temptations
  • Nightlife destinations China Rouge, The Ritz-Carlton Bar & Lounge and Macallan Bar
  • Festive restaurants and roadside hawker stalls at the Broadway Macau Food Street
  • The Broadway Theatre Box Office and Kiosks
  • The Banyan Tree Spa, ESPA by The Ritz-Carlton, Macau, and Foot Hub
  • Entertainment outlets such as the UA Cinema Director’s Club and Jinmen Lounge
  • Retailers like the Banyan Tree Spa Gallery Shop and Galaxy Collections
  • Various parking, concierge, VIP and travel services
  • …and more than 100 other destinations within GEG’s integrated resort portfolio

The launch of WeChat Pay represents yet another opportunity for GEG to pioneer new products and services for Macau’s vibrant hospitality market, having also been first-to-Macau offerings with Macau’s very first Apple Store at The Promenade Shops; the world’s largest skytop wave pool on the Grand Resort Deck; Broadway Macau food street and entertainment district, and a large portfolio of retail product launches.”
