TTG Travel Awards 2017 honours 82 remarkable organisations and individuals

18 new winners have emerged across various categories, taking home the signature Hermes trophy for the first time.

Bangkok – Asia-Pacific’s most prestigious travel industry awards named its 82 outstanding travel and tourism stars at the 28th annual TTG Travel Awards 2017.

18 new winners have emerged across various categories, taking home the signature Hermes trophy for the first time. Debuting winners include Mandara Spa and Sands Expo and Convention Centre Marina Bay Sands who have successfully claimed titles that were dominated by long-time winners, taking the honour of the Best Spa Operator and Best Convention & Exhibition Centre respectively.

Other first-time winners who made their way into the TTG Travel Awards include American Airlines Group Inc., Hainan Airlines Holding Co., Ltd., The Siam, Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and Oneday Korea Tours and Travel.

They are among the 52 award-winners across Travel Supplier and Travel Agency categories that were voted in by the travel trade industry, comprising majority TTG Asia, TTG China, TTG India, TTGmice, TTG-BTmice China, TTGassociations and TTG Asia Luxury readers.

Outstanding Achievement Award recipients handpicked by TTG’s editorial team for exceptional contributions as industry role-models are, Peter Bellew, CEO of Malaysia Airlines Berhad, as Travel Personality of the Year; Indonesia as Destination of the Year; Thomas Cook India Group as Travel Entrepreneur of the Year; Tourism Authority of Thailand for Best Travel Marketing Effort and Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas as Most Sustainable Travel Company. All are first-time winners to these titles.

16 of tonight’s winning organisations have made notable remarkable comebacks into the awards. Air New Zealand, Preferred Hotels & Resorts and Dusit Thani Manila reclaimed their respective Best Pacific Airline, Best Hotel Rep Company, and Best City Hotel – Manila titles. The 2017 awards also welcomed the return of past recipients Ramada Singapore At Zhongshan Park (Best Mid-Range Hotel), Ibis (Best Budget Hotel Brand), Cathay Pacific Airways (Best Airline – Business Class), JTB Corp. (Best Travel Agency – Japan) and Chan Brothers Travel (Best Travel Agency – Singapore).

Defending winners comprise the majority of the nights recipients, with Industry veterans such as AccorHotels (Best Global Hotel Chain), Frasers Hospitality (Best Serviced Residence Operator), Best Western International (Best Mid-Range Hotel Brand), Royal Caribbean Cruises (Asia) Pte. Ltd. (Best Cruise Operator) and Phoenix Tours International, Inc. (Best Travel Agency – Chinese Taipei) successfully holding onto their titles with consecutive wins, receiving the acclaim of being the best in their league.

The Awards also comprised of the TTG Travel of Fame which represents the highest honour bestowed only on exceptional organisations that have achieved the feat of staying the best in their class for 10 years. These 15 honoraries, inducted from 2002 to 2016, epitomise being the industry’s best of the best.

The 28th Annual TTG Travel Awards 2017 Ceremony and Gala Dinner was held in Centara Grand at CentralWorld, our official venue sponsor for the event. This annual event coincides with Incentive Travel & Conventions, Meetings Asia (IT&CMA) and Corporate Travel World (CTW) Asia-Pacific – The World’s Only Doublebill Event in MICE and Corporate Travel.
