Nearly 100 inbound travel agents get to experience new variety of Amazing Thailand 2017

In the afternoon, they had the chance to meet with local tourism operators from Thailand in a table top session.

Bangkok – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently hosted 97 travel agents and tour operators from around ASEAN, South Asia and the South Pacific on a visit to Thailand in the ‘Experience New Variety of Amazing Thailand 2017‘ fam trip held from 18 – 23 September.

Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Europe, Africa, Middle East and Americas said, “The aim was to provide these key inbound markets with a first-hand idea of Thailand’s tourism marketing promotions coming up in 2018, and to highlight some of the unique Thai local experiences on offer to all tourists.

The fam trip participants – 14 from Singapore and the Philippines, 11 from Australia and New Zealand, 39 from India and Pakistan, seven from Malaysia and Brunei, 11 from Indonesia, 12 from Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao PDR. and three from Myanmar – were taken on four different tour itineraries that focused on the ‘12 Hidden Gems Plus‘ concept. Each itinerary was four days and three nights in duration, from 18 – 21 September.

The ‘12 Hidden Gems Plus‘ concept pairs twin destinations that complement one another and offer tourists unique Thai local experiences, and which can be great add-ons to a holiday in Bangkok.

For the fam trip, the four routes featured were: ‘Experience the Land of Khmer Castles‘ taking in Buri Ram and Nakhon Ratchasima; ‘The Charm of East Coast Beaches‘ visiting Pattaya in Chon Buri, Rayong and Chanthaburi; ‘Vibrant Colours of Ratchaburi and Kanchanaburi‘; and ‘Experience Idyllic Coastal Towns‘ highlighting Surat Thani, Chumphon and Ranong.

The programme for the ‘Experience New Variety of Amazing Thailand 2017‘ fam trip also saw participants visit some of the various tourism attractions and services along the BTS or Skytrain line in Bangkok, on 22 September, followed by a dinner reception that evening.

On Saturday morning of 23 September, the fam trip participants attended a product presentation and a workshop in which they were able to share with each other their experiences of the previous few days.

In the afternoon, they had the chance to meet with local tourism operators from Thailand in a table top session. A total of 75 Thai operators took part in this session including travel agents, hotels, entertainment venues and theme parks, spas, shopping malls and markets, wineries, duty-free shops and transport companies.
