THAI arranges 31 special flights to Saudi Arabia for Hajj Pilgrimage 2017

A total of nine flights will depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport, four flights from Narathiwat Airport, 16 flights from Hat Yai International Airport, and two flights from Krabi International Airport.

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited arranged special flights for Thai Muslims to attend the Hajj Pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, with flights to depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok and Narathiwat Airport to Medina Airport, Saudi Arabia on 24 July 2017. Flights will also depart from Hat Yai International Airport and Krabi International Airport.  This year, THAI has arranged 31 special flights to accommodate approximately 9,000 passengers who will participate in the pilgrimage.

Mrs. Usanee Sangsingkeo, THAI Acting President, said that THAI has arranged charter flights for Hajj pilgrims for 12 years since 2005, in accordance to Cabinet decision for the Ministry of Transport to assist in the arrangement of annual Hajj flights. In preparation for annual Hajj pilgrimages, a representative from THAI participates as part of a subcommittee under the Hajj Committee of Thailand, which is overseen by the Ministry of Interior, with all arrangements based on agreements between the Thai Government and Saudi Arabia. THAI continues to place emphasis on the importance of passenger comfort and convenience, safety standards, and on-time flight departures. Furthermore, THAI’s HALAL kitchen will prepare inflight meals that will be served on board and all HALAL meals will be prepared in strict adherence to Islamic dietary requirements. THAI’s HALAL kitchen received HAL-Q certification for HALAL standards on all special flights.

In 2017, THAI is pleased to operate 31 roundtrip flights for approximately 9,000 passengers participating in the Hajj pilgrimage. A total of nine flights will depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport, four flights from Narathiwat Airport, 16 flights from Hat Yai International Airport, and two flights from Krabi International Airport, with flights operated with Airbus A330-300 aircraft equipped with 289 seats, as follows:

Departure Flight

  • First Period During 24 July – 3 August 2017
    – Bangkok-Medina during 24-25 July 2017 at one flight per day or total of two flights
    – Narathiwat-Medina during 24-25 July 2017 at two flights per day or total of four flights
    – Hat Yai-Medina during 26 July – 2 August 2017 at two flights per day or total of 16 flights
    – Krabi-Medina during 3 August 2017 at two flights per day or total of 2 flights
  • Second Period During 20-23 August 2017
    – Bangkok-Jeddah during 20-22 August 2017 at two flights per day, and on 23 August 2017 at one flight per day or total of seven flights

Return Flight

  • First Period During 6-23 September 2017
    – Jeddah-Narathiwat during 6-9 September 2017 at one flight per day or total of four flights
    – Jeddah-Bangkok during 10-11 September 2017 at one flight per day or total of two flights
    – Jeddah-Hat Yai during 12-16 September 2017 at one flight per day, 17-21 September 2017 at two flights per day, 22 September 2017 at one flight per day or total of 16 flights
    Jeddah-Krabi during 23 September 2017 at two flights per day or total of two flights
  • Second Period During 29 September – 2 October 2017
    – Jeddah-Bangkok during 29 September – 1 October 2017 at two flights per day and 2 October 2017 at one flight per day or total of seven flights.
