JAL goes double-daily between London and Tokyo

The addition of the new service will enable JAL to offer customers a total of four daily direct flights between London and Tokyo: two daily services operated by JAL and two daily services operated by oneworld and joint-business partner BA.

Commencing 29th October 2017, Japan Airlines(JAL) will operate a second daily nonstop service between London Heathrow and Tokyo Haneda. A key benefit of the new direct service (JL041/ 042) is the earliest arrival time in both directions on the London – Tokyo route, enabling customers to maximize their time at their chosen destination.

The flight from London to Tokyo (JL042) departs at 09:30 in the morning from Heathrow Terminal 3: perfect for the savvy traveller who wants to beat the rush. The 02:45am departure time of the Tokyo Haneda to London flight (JL041) means that customers can make the most of their last day in Japan. The early morning arrival time of both flights is ideal for those who have onward connections to catch; business to conduct on their day of arrival; or for those who simply want to get back home, or get started on their holiday straightway.

Mr Yoshitaka Ihokibe, Japan Airlines Senior Vice President EMEA Region welcomed the new flight, saying, “Japan Airlines is delighted to announce the addition of this second flight on the London – Tokyo route. Not only does this allow us to offer greater choice and seat availability to travellers based in London, it also allows customers travelling from elsewhere in the UK and Europe another option when travelling to and from Japan. We anticipate that demand for Japan travel will continue to grow and we are determined to answer that demand with the highest standards of safety and service as we continue to strive towards our ultimate goal of becoming the world’s most preferred airline.”

The addition of the new service will enable JAL to offer customers a total of four daily direct flights between London and Tokyo: two daily services operated by JAL (codeshare with British Airways (BA)), both serving Haneda; and two daily services operated by oneworld and joint-business partner BA (codeshare with JAL), with one serving Haneda and the other Narita. This new service provides customers flying between the UK and Japan more choice, with a wider selection of flight times and increased seat availability.

The new JAL service will use a state-of-the-art Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. With its improved cabin altitude pressurization and air quality, higher humidity, larger windows, and softer LED lighting, customers will arrive at their destination feeling more refreshed than ever. The aircraft will be configured into three cabins: Business, Premium Economy and Economy.

In Business Class, customers can relax in one of JAL’s award-winning suites with fully-flat bed, innovative airweave bedding, and one of the largest personal TV screens in its class. JAL Premium Economy customers can enjoy dedicated check-in counters, priority luggage handling and Business Class lounge access at the airport, as well as the most generous legroom in its class. Customers travelling in Economy Class can experience our innovatively designed JAL Economy Class Seat, a Skytrax award-winner in both 2015 and 2017.

From 23:30 onwards at Haneda, all Economy Class customers departing on the JL041 will be given complimentary access to a dedicated area within the JAL Sakura Lounge. Here they will be able to enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks, including pastries, hand-rolled sushi, udon noodles, wine, beer and soft drinks. Business and Premium Economy Class customers, plus eligible frequent fliers travelling on JAL operated international flights, are automatically eligible to access to the JAL Sakura Lounge. At Haneda, facilities include a buffet-style dining room, bar counter, shower rooms, and massage chairs.

On the evening prior to departure, all JL041 customers will also be provided complimentary entry to the bathing facilities at ‘Natural Hot Spring Heiwajima‘. Customers should make their own way to Natural Hot Spring Heiwajima, a short bus or taxi ride from either Omori Station (JR Line) or Heiwajima Station (Keikyu Line). After relaxing and unwinding in the therapeutic hot waters, customers can take the 20-minute complimentary shuttle bus departing at 00:20 from Natural Hot Spring Heiwajima to Haneda.

The service on the JL041 is designed specifically for night-time flights with particular emphasis on creating the most tranquil environment possible to enable customers to maximise sleep time. Cabin lights will be dimmed as soon as possible after take-off and food will only be served to those who would like to eat – all other customers will be able to sleep undisturbed. Snacks will be made available to customers in Economy and Premium Economy cabins after take-off; while Business Class customers can order meals from the A La Carte “Any Time You Wish” menu. All customers will be served breakfast approximately 7 hours after departure from Haneda.
