Emirates extends its direct distribution to the Chinese market with Alitrip using its NDC API powered by Farelogix

Live implementation also features support for Alipay, the preferred payment method of Alitrip customers.

DUBAI, HANGZHOU, and MIAMI – Emirates Airline announced that its content is now available for booking in the Chinese market through the Emirates Flagship Store on Alitrip, a subsidiary of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba. The distribution of Emirates’ rich content to one of the largest consumer booking sites in China is facilitated by Emirates Online B2B, the airline’s IATA NDC Level 2 certified API powered by Farelogix. This is the first airline flagship store in the industry with a NDC connection. Emirates has also implemented Alipay, the preferred payment method of Alitrip customers, ensuring that flight shopping and destination inventory preferences are both aligned to meet the needs of travellers in China, while providing enhanced reporting capabilities to Emirates.

Emirates has been in production with Emirates Online B2B for several years; it is developed, enhanced, and operated by Farelogix, and uses Farelogix Open Connect technology. It provides the airline with total control of its content, enabling users to make and manage bookings out of the Emirates reservation system without any third-party intervention, using industry standard XML protocols required by innovative travel retailing platforms such as Alitrip.

“With the Emirates flagship store, we now have direct access to rich content and ancillaries from Emirates, a global airline that has become increasingly more relevant to the market in China,” said Wells Zheng, Vice President of Alitrip. “This equates to a better consumer experience for our customers because we can now deliver highly relevant and new content that was not available through the intermediaries we previously relied on to deliver Emirates content to our consumer booking engine. We also help the airlines to get direct access to the fast growing China online travel market.”

“As the distribution technology partner for Emirates, we are proud to support the airline’s distribution expansion through our technology and integration services,” said Jim Davidson, CEO of Farelogix. “With its NDC certified Emirates Online B2B API, Emirates is very well positioned to continue to innovate in these new markets.”
