Thailand Travel MartPlus 2017 to feature leading speakers on tourism trends

The Tourism Trend Talk Forum for the TTM+2017 delegates will be held on 14 June, 2017, during 15.30-17.30 Hrs. at the Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

CHIANG MAI – All buyers, sellers and media attending this year Thailand Travel Mart Plus Amazing Gateway to the Greater Mekong Subregion (TTM+) will get a chance to hear some of the latest issues and trends from well-known experts in the field of community-based tourism, gastronomy, tourism crisis management and e-commerce.

The Tourism Trend Talk Forum for the TTM+2017 delegates will be held on 14 June, 2017, during 15.30-17.30 Hrs. at the Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Centre. Open free of charge to all delegates, it gives them a valuable opportunity to update their knowledge base, get new ideas and enhance their professionalism.

The speakers’ line-up will be led by H.E. Mrs. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, who will talk on “Community-based Tourism”. An architect by education, the Minister had a distinguished early career in the Thai business world, during which she attended the Executive Development Programme at the Office of the Royal Development Projects Board. She was also President of the Self Sufficient Economy Committee of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.

Other speakers are Mr. Mason Florence, Chairman, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy on “Gastronomy”, Professor Dr. David Beirman, Senior Lecturer, University of Technology-Sydney, on “Tourism Crisis Management”, and Ms. Sarah Mathews May, Chairperson, Pacific Asia Travel Association, on “Digital Age: E-Commerce Platform”.

The talks will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A session, souvenir presentation and photo session.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said, “The Forum is a value-added component of the TTM+ that is beneficial for buyers and sellers and their potential business. We have received very positive feedback over the years. This year, we have chosen topics of great relevance to the entire travel and tourism industry in Thailand and the GMS region.

“We are particularly pleased to have Minister Kobkarn lead the session to highlight the importance of the Royal Projects, initiated by our beloved late monarch King Bhumibol Adulyadej as part of his visionary Sufficiency Economy concept. We hope it will be a positive learning experience for everyone.”
