MGTO addressed the participants in both tourism presentation seminars as the Rotating Chairman of the Tourism Alliance of Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao designated for the term of 2017. Cora Vong expressed, “Since 2010, our three tourism authorities have been promoting regional travel in concerted efforts across the Mainland every year with a continuous commitment to strengthen our cooperation. Geographically, we are very close to each other, with Zhuhai being adjacent to Zhongshan and Macao on the map. It takes just an hour to travel from Zhongshan to Macau by car. With convenient transportations and the unique diversity we each have to offer as a destination, visitors can enjoy three different spectra of local cultures and unique cityscapes offered in one trip.”

Following their work meeting held in Macao in March, the three tourism authorities invited members of the travel trade to join their missions to Indonesia and Malaysia for a range of destination promotions in mid April. Multi-destination tourism products were showcased in the mega tourism promotional event “Experience Macao – Malaysia” held in Kuala Lumpur, followed by a “multi-destination” tourism promotion, a travel mart and a media reception.

Travel industry delegates meet and discuss business opportunities

Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao formed a tourism alliance in 2006 to start carrying out joint marketing initiatives under their image as the “Fragrant Hill in the past; Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao today”. They conduct regular meetings each year to discuss annual collaborative plans. The three tourism authorities take turns to serve as the tourism alliance chairman.

In recent years, by leveraging the opportunities brought by the Belt and Road Initiative, MGTO has been collaborating with its partner tourism entities in the region to develop a greater variety of travel itineraries and organize multi-destination tourism promotions in the Mainland and overseas. With the rise of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development, MGTO will embrace the new possibilities and deepen cooperation with the other cities concerned, thus reinforcing their strengths and promoting their brand as a regional tourism destination across the world.
