(“HNA Group”, or the “Group”), a Global Fortune 500 company focusing on tourism, logistics and financial services, has been officially appointed as the Advocate of Overseas Sustainable Development of Chinese Enterprises (the “Advocate”) by the United Nations Development Programme China(“UNDP China”). The Group also signed a MOU with UNDP China to comprehensively enhance the overseas sustainable development capabilities of Chinese enterprises. The signing ceremony for “The MOU between the United Nations Development Programme and HNA Group” and the celebration for the launch of the “2017 Report on Overseas Sustainable Development of Chinese Enterprises: Supporting the Belt and Road Regions to Achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” took place at the UNDP Country Office in China. Attending the event were representatives from the embassies of many countries, state-owned and private enterprises, chambers of commerce, civil society organizations, academic institutions and bilateral assistance institutions.

With a three-year tenure, the Advocate’s mission is to promote overseas sustainable development of Chinese enterprises. Mr. Chen Feng, Chairman of the Board of HNA Group, said: “Being an active advocate and participant of the Belt and Road initiative, HNA Group is committed to pushing forward sustainable development worldwide by effectively coordinating the global industrial resources in its three core businesses — aviation and tourism, modern logistics, and modern financial services. The Belt and Road initiative has not only brought a brand new solution for the current global economic and development issues but also offers a historical turning point for the integrated development of Eastern and Western civilizations. We hope that the ties formed today between HNA and UNDP will mark the beginning of our joint effort to stimulate the sustainable development of Chinese enterprises overseas.”
