Torsten Richter takes over from Yves Mudry, who is pursuing more Accor adventures at Raffles Jakarta, Indonesia.
SO Sofitel Bangkok has appointed Torsten Richter as the new general manager tasked to steer the urban design hotel into the next chapter of the SO Evolution.
From sea to city, Torsten joins SO Sofitel Bangkok from the Maldives, where he was most recently the Pre-Opening Consultant – General Manager for Milaidhoo Resort in the Baa Atoll, and before that Cluster General Manager for three resorts in the South Atoll.
“I’ve followed the evolution of SO Sofitel Bangkok closely over the past few years, and I am very excited to have the chance to elevate SO to the next level. I look forward to working with the team in bringing new energy and even more exciting SO Happenings to this city,” said Torsten Richter, incoming General Manager of SO Sofitel Bangkok.
And if anyone knows excitement, it’s Torsten, whose passion for hospitality is complemented with his love of extreme sports – to him, this new SO adventure is yet another Ironman challenge to conquer.
Torsten brings with him over 25 years of hospitality experience in his hometown of Baden-Baden, London, New York, Thailand, Bali, and the Maldives. Though this is his first posting in Bangkok, the German native previously called Thailand his home from 2004 to 2011, during which he spent over three years as a resort General Manager in Khao Lak, and before that nearly four years on Phuket where he worked through the F&B ranks to a Hotel Manager position.
