BANGKOK – Hot on the heels of the January signing ceremony for the X2 Vibe Viet Tri Hotel, BHMAsiaopened a new representative office in Ho Chi Minh City in February, underlining the company’s commitment to Vietnam, and opening up a significant number of pre-opening opportunities for experienced hospitality professionals.
The Vietnam office is headed by Simon Jinks, a veteran hotelier who brings experience in managing properties in Asia, including Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. Simon’s expertise lies in the midscale and upscale hotel segments, with a talent for rebranding and managing the opening of large international brand hotels, such as Accor.
“Relationships are everything in doing business, and that’s why we feel that having a presence here in Vietnam is so important to strengthen the trust of our investors and potential new clients. More importantly, we want to make sure that our clients can reach out to us whenever they need,” said Simon.
The office gives BHMAsia a full-time presence as one of very few international brands with representation in Vietnam, and will allow new Director of Technical Services, Lam Tran, to use his experience in architectural design and project management to support investors by working closely on design, development and brand standards, which is a key strength of BHMAsia.
All five properties in Vietnam are in the development phase, with X2 Vibe Hoi An Residence scheduled to open first with 230 keys in Q3 this year, followed by the lakeside X2 Vibe Viet Tri Hotel in Phu Tho province, around one hour from Hanoi, in Q2 of 2018 and a further 112 keys at X2 Halong Bay Hill Resort later on.
BHMAsia is now firmly on course to reach its target of 16 properties and 3,000 rooms in Vietnam by the end of the year. As Vice President of Business Development, Frederic Garnier, explained, “Vietnam is a strong market, there are new destinations and the infrastructure is good. The gaming industry is booming and tourism is on the rise.”
“Our project sizes here in Vietnam are much bigger than Thailand, not only for hotels but residences as well. We have a number of new owners, individual rather than institutional investors, and these are repeat investors. They have their first property with us and then they add their second. This is why it’s important to have an office here for their convenience – we can assist them whenever they need.”
