SINGAPORE – Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company(“Vietjet Air”) reported positive growth in 2016, with revenue of US$1.21 and profit of US$105 million. The airline achieved a load factor of 88.9%, transporting more than 14 million passengers.
In 2016, Vietjet Air operated a total of 84,535 flights, accounting for 121,213 flight hours, reflecting further growth in the demand for air travel in Vietnam. The airline’s technical reliability was 99.56%, the highest rate obtained to date by an airline operating Airbus A320/A321 aircraft in the Southeast Asia region. On-time performance for the year stood at 83.6%.
The airline’s training center, which opened in early 2015, has so far trained 8,287 members of staff across 655 training courses. In 2016, 3,351 certificates were presented.
Vietjet Air also continued to increase flight frequency across domestic routes, whilst expanding its international network to destinations such a Malaysia, Taiwan, South Korea and Bangkok to name a few. The airline currently operates 63 routes (37 domestic 26 international) with a fleet of 45 new and modern aircraft. The average age of the aircraft in the fleet is 3.3 years.
