A celebration of feminity on ‘Genting Dream’

Presenting the First-ever Cheongsam Fashion Show at Sea Revel in the Golden Shanghai era with enrichment and entertainment series.

HONG KONG – In celebration of the International Women’s Day, Dream Cruises, the first-ever Asian luxury cruise line, will ring in the month of March with a series of events inspired by the Golden Shanghai era in the 1920s, including the first-ever Cheongsam Catwalk at Sea, professional hair and makeup workshops, skincare talks as well as dancing parties to set the mood for everything Shanghai. Take a culinary voyage via the Silk Road and Dream Dining restaurants on board where Shanghai inspired menus take the gastronomic limelight. It is highly encouraged to pack a cheongsam for this magical cruise to enjoy a totally immersive experience.

The art of Cheongsam: the essence of chinese feminity
Cheongsam, also known as Qipao, is the iconic Chinese dress that showcases a woman’s feminine allure and beauty. The cheongsam captures the essence of Chinese women which has endured through centuries. The blockbuster classic and exquisite masterpiece – “In the Mood for Love” by Hong Kong film maker Wong Kar Wai, starring Maggie Cheung – single-handedly revived the iconic cheongsam.

In collaboration with Linva Tailor, one of Hong Kong’s top bespoke tailors, the first-ever Cheongsam fashion show at sea will be hosted onboard Genting Dream, featuring 21 handcrafted cheongsams as a tribute to this art form in Chinese fashion, to be modeled by none other than the multitalented crew of Genting Dream. Every cruise in March will declare one lucky passenger a winner; whoever can fit into the ideal measurements as envisioned by the Master Tailor Mr. Leung Ching Wah, will win a specially crafted cheongsam from Linva Tailor who is celebrating 52 years of artful and skilled tailoring in Hong Kong.

Get the chance to meet Ocean Jiang Tao, high fashion make-up artist from Beijing and his team to learn the techniques and tips of classic Chinese make-up inspired by the Shanghai vintage look. Jiang Tao is experienced in the art of make-up transformations for a number of international brands and movie stars and has worked on a variety of movies in China. Learn how to apply the signature Shanghai make-up and the classic hair styles which has proven to be timeless in its iconic allure. Then, proceed to have your Shanghai look be photographed by our professional team to immortalize your glamorous transformation.

Put on your favorite Cheongsam and dance the night away
All ladies are invited to put on their favorite cheongsam and sway to live band performances of Shanghai Broadway music, as the dazzling Golden Shanghai era comes to life onboard Genting Dream. Waltz over to the poolside and bask in the romantic ambiance of the masquerade party, where guests enjoy an electrifying dance party beneath the stars. The cruise reaches its highest peak every Thursday evening, being the last night of the cruise featuring Dream Nights, the final show where all passengers are encouraged to wear their cheongsams to celebrate the fashionable spirit of Shanghai. Party animals would think ahead and opt for a red cheongsam, as the night is still young at Zouk Nightclub with the Ladies Night Red Hot Party, where the hottest tunes and prizes await.
