Events from the bush to the Big Smoke

After leaving Moree in 2008, Ms Horton has since established her own events business, Firefly Events & Project Management.

Hailing from the small western NSW town of Moree, Samantha Horton always loved being involved in unforgettable events. Whether it’s working with the royal family, or helping bring more events to her hometown, she’s always organising something.

After leaving Moree in 2008, Ms Horton has since established her own events business, Firefly Events & Project Management.

From mixing with royalty, working on Queensland’s largest event, Ekka, to organising charity events with rugby union stars, Samantha is a long way from Moree… but home is where the heart is.

“I left Moree in 2008, like many others I left town to go to university and see what life in the city was like”, she said.

“Once I finished my events degree at Griffith University on the Gold Coast I worked at different businesses and organisations, including the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA), it’s here where I met Princess Anne.”

The RASC event Samantha organised, which included a tour with delegates around the great south-east to some of the state’s best farming areas, along with hosting HRH Princess Anne to the RNA, was a highlight of her career.

“Working with the royal family and their team was a real honour,” said Ms Horton.

“Since starting Firefly we have helped events come to life, including the popular Fainga’a Twins Think Pink Charity Dinner.

“We have lots of great events in Brisbane on the pipeline, but I do love working with country folk and helping them bring their ideas to life. Whether it’s a large agricultural conference, Christmas function or black tie wedding, we specialise in helping from conception to completion.”

It won’t be long before Sam is back to her roots though, as she helps plan for a country wedding in her hometown.

“I love going home, so it’s a dream being able to work with this bride and bring this Moree wedding to life!”

She has also recently joined a local Moree committee to help bring more events to the country town. Watch this space.
