Maison Aurelia, Sanur Hosts Spice Gastrobar – Second Edition by Celebrity Masterchef, Chris Salans
In the attempt of adding more delight to its guests, Maison Aurelia – Sanur offers a captivating dining experience at Spice Gastrobar – Second Edition, by celebrity masterchef Chris Salans – the founder of world-famous Mozaic Gastronomique Restaurant in Ubud.

“Like for the first edition Spice Gastrobar in Ubud, we are only using ingredients that are locally sourced with an emphasis on the surprising flavors & healing properties of Indonesian aromatic roots, herbs & spices,” added Salans, “the cuisine and mixology joyfully combines Indonesian flavors with western techniques of preparation and presentation such as in Snapper Carpaccio with tamarind croutons & rojak or Jim and Jack – a bourbon and jackfruit sensation.”

The interiors of Spice at Maison Aurelia – Sanur are a visual sensation celebrating the Indonesian archipelago & interpreted with contemporary artisan styling. The spicy color palette within the restaurant is literally lifted from the ingredients in the chef’s kitchen: cassia bark, saffron, curry and coriander.

“The signature bold zig-zag pattern prevalent in the tile floors & bar areas are inspired by the sarongs of paddy field farmers.”

Installations of hand-thrown upended terracotta pots are utilized to create whimsical pendant lamp groupings along the ceiling. And perhaps even more fun & dramatic is the “bottle chandelier”, created from a cluster of suspended wine & liquor bottles that hover over the bar station.

The design of Spice at Maison Aurelia – Sanur was a creative collaboration between Chef Chris Salans & Lloyd Hassencahl of Design Solutions.
