Luxury All-Villa Resort The Anam in Nha Trang appoints Duncan MacLean as General Manager to lead experienced team

Mr MacLean's career started in 1975 with InterContinental Hotel Group in the UK, moving 10 years later to Australia with Hilton International.

NHA TRANG, Vietnam – Exclusive colonial-styled beachfront resort, The Anam, is continuing to set new standards in luxurious hospitality in Vietnam with the unveiling of a distinguished and high-profile team led by legendary hotelier Duncan MacLean

With over 40 years in hotels, 20 of which have been with pioneering, luxury projects in Asia, Mr MacLean takes the reins at The Anam in the role of General Manager having assembled a dream team to take the property to the top of the fast growing luxury sector in Vietnam’s key resort destinations.

Mr MacLean’s career started in 1975 with InterContinental Hotel Group in the UK, moving 10 years later to Australia with Hilton International. He was one of the first hoteliers to work in Myanmar after the first national elections where he spent a further 10 years before working in the hot spots of Kabul and East Timor.

He then moved to Vietnam where he has lived for the past decade, with achievements including establishing Furama Danang as one of Vietnam’s most iconic hotels before taking the leadership role at The Anam.

Joining Mr Maclean is Martin Koerner as Director of Sales and Marketing, formerly from the board of directors of leading Asia-wide hospitality consortium HG Holdings, Ms Thi Vo Hoai Thi as Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing who previously worked with InterContinental Hotel Group and Six Senses Group, and Ms Nguyen Thi Lien previously with five-star Amiana Resort Nha Trang as Reservations and Yield Manager.

“After four decades in the hotel industry I can truly say this destination and this property are poised to achieve something very special,” said Mr MacLean. “The all-villa resort is in an incredible beachfront location on the Northern Cam Ranh Peninsula, the product itself is first class, combining colonial charm, service and style – and the team is strong and dynamic.”

The Anam soft opened in Q3 of this year, offering a 40% discount until 20th December when it is set to be fully operational with all facilities and services.

Located 15 minutes from Cam Ranh International Airport, and 30 minutes from the city centre, The Anam harks back to a bygone era of natural sophistication with a philosophy of “No Shoes. No News. No Stress” ensuring the resort guarantees a level of relaxation rarely found in other parts of Vietnam, or even the world.

Each of the 117 villas are finished in Vietnamese hardwood, decorative stone and antique style tiling. Thanks to a “Sweet Dreams à la carte” concept with Irish linen, goose down pillows and recognised world’s best beds, guests are guaranteed a blissful night’s sleep. The elegant bathrooms, with sunken bathtubs, rain-showers, and hand-made French lotions and toiletries, typify The Anam’s attention to detail.

The luxurious Sri Mara Spa, named after the first Cham King, offers private treatment rooms and therapists trained in Balinese massage. A wide range of recreational activities – from water sports to tennis and yoga – plus a fully equipped fitness centre allows guests to create their own custom vacation agenda each day. The private beach is patrolled by internationally certified life guards trained by Surf Life Saving Australia.

Innovation and originality are The Anam’s watchwords and this is reflected in cleverly conceptualised dining concepts that have been carefully designed to suit the location. A Beach Club sits right next to the 600 sqm swimming pool, there’s also Satay Bar and the resort’s signature Indochine Café, where contemporary Asian and European cuisines are prepared in display show kitchens allowing guests to observe and indulge.

The Anam’s events facilities offer state-of-the-art amenities in an ocean-side location. There’s ample space for weddings and couples, or those celebrating special occasions, have the chance to get creative with the ocean as their inspiration. In addition to the private beach, other facilities include three large swimming pools, a kid’s adventure club and playground, and a complimentary shuttle service to and from downtown Nha Trang city.
