PATA to examine the role of youth in transforming travel and tourism

Young people are the primary assets in driving the successful growth of the travel and tourism industry, while industry disruptors are fundamentally changing the way the industry can develop and operate.

BANGKOK – The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is to organise a session on ‘The Role of Youth: Disruption and Entrepreneurship’ during World Travel Market in London, United Kingdom. The workshop takes place on Tuesday November 8 from 12.30 to 13.30 hrs. in South Gallery Rooms 15 & 16 at London ExCeL.

Young people are the primary assets in driving the successful growth of the travel and tourism industry, while industry disruptors are fundamentally changing the way the industry can develop and operate. The session will examine this evolution as it transforms fundamentally the way in which entrepreneurship develops over the next decade.

PATA CEO Dr. Mario Hardy said, “As our Association focuses its attention next year on the young tourism professional, this session is just the first step in examining the next generations’ impact on the industry. This is an outstanding opportunity for industry stakeholders to gain a greater understanding of the evolving landscape of travel and tourism.”

Confirmed speakers include Professor Dimitrios Buhalis, Head of Department of Tourism and Hospitality – University of Bournemouth; Dr. Mario Hardy, CEO – PATA, Tom Jenkins, Executive Director – European Tourism Association (ETOA), and Russell Young, Managing Director, APAC – Sojern. The session will be moderated by Daniela Wagner, PATA’s Regional Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
