Sydney to host major aviation summit in 2017

Sydney is set to play host to the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit in 2017, the region’s largest strategic aviation and travel industry event attracting up to 1,000 of the world’s leading industry executives to Sydney.

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said the two-day CAPA – Centre for Aviation Summit will provide a forum for strategic discussions on aviation issues across Australia and the Pacific region and showcase Sydney to the world.

“Delegates will be able to experience first-hand why Sydney is the premier destination for convention and exhibition business, with iconic attractions, luxury accommodation and world-class food and wine,” Mr Ayres said.

Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said hosting events such as the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit has the benefit of showcasing our beautiful state while driving overnight visitation.

“Staging business events in NSW is a great way to encourage more visitors to experience everything that’s on offer – from our magnificent harbour city and its vast array of attractions to the renowned hospitality, events and spectacular scenery of regional NSW,” Ms Chipchase said.

CAPA – Centre for Aviation Managing Director Stephen Pearse said, “We are delighted to be working with the NSW Government through Destination NSW to stage the 2017 CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit, providing global aviation and travel leaders with a professional platform for high-level discussion on the future of our industry.”

The NSW Government, through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, is supporting the 2017 CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit which will be held on 1 & 2 August at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth Hotel.
