HG Travel appoints Myanmar managing director as it readies to roll out new products at World Travel Market 2016

Mr Bloemendaal has worked in Southeast Asia for 10 years and 15 years in total in the travel industry, working for renowned DMCs in Thailand and Vietnam in senior management positions before joining the HG Travel leadership team.

HANOI, Vietnam – Leading Southeast Asia destination management company (DMC) HG Travel has appointed a new managing director for its office in Myanmar as it prepares to expand its presence in the country and roll out a fresh collection of exciting, community-focused experiential travel programmes.  
 
Myanmar represents one of the world’s most aspirational travel destinations and under the experienced leadership of Gerben Bloemendaal, HG Travel Myanmar will unveil a unique range of high quality tours at the upcoming World Travel Market exhibition in London from November 7-9 to global wholesale partners. 
 
A passionate sportsman and adventurer, Dutch national Mr Bloemendaal has worked in Southeast Asia for 10 years and 15 years in total in the travel industry, working for renowned DMCs in Thailand and Vietnam in senior management positions before joining the HG Travel leadership team.

The exciting new product range has been pioneered by HG Travel’s country associates who have connected with the destination to establish the new product range of experiential travel journeys that leverage the community relationships HG Travel have forged over the past 20 years of operations across the region. 
 
“There is strong interest in the UK for travel into Southeast Asia and in particular Myanmar. It is a fast growing region for us and I am sure travel wholesalers will appreciate the quality and value of the experiences we are offering,” said HG Travel UK representative Yaow Butwisake Yok
 
The appointment in Myanmar is part of a wider rollout strategy of offices around the region over the next 12-months as the Hanoi-based DMC establishes a network of operations manned by seasoned experts in key markets, adding to its established presence in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar. 
  
“We are deeply committed to offering a series of new and exciting travel experiences for our worldwide partners to sell and expand our already extensive product range,” said HG Travel co-founder Mr Tran Thanh Nam. “What is key for us this year at WTM is to demonstrate our product ingenuity and community philosophy in Myanmar which is a central part of our expansion plans for the next 12 months.” 
 
HG Travel currently handles 50,000 inbound arrivals from international markets with Europe, Russia, China, Australia and the US as key source markets.
