Future Human. Business Events Sydney leads the discussion

Joining BESydney at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Australia was an audience from a range of disciplines sharing a common interest in advancing Australia, and the world, through innovation and ideas.

Business Events Sydney (BESydney) brought the future and its possibilities to the forefront with a thought-provoking discussion at its annual Sydney Speaker Series.

Now in its fourth year, the event held during Vivid Ideas showcases Australia’s brightest and leading talent, discussing burning topics that will shape on June 24. Joining BESydney at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Australia was an audience from a range of disciplines sharing a common interest in advancing Australia, and the world, through innovation and ideas.

This year’s captivating topic ‘Future Human. Discuss’ was explored by three keynote speakers: Aidan Sarsfield, Head of Production Technology at award-winning visual effects and animation studio Animal Logic; Dr Marlene Kanga AM, the Director of iOmniscient Pty. Ltd and BESydney Ambassador; and Sally Loane, CEO of the Financial Services Council (FSC) and BESydney Ambassador. Providing insights on what future human will look like, and discussing if we want it staring back at us in the mirror, the event was moderated by Dr Jochen Schweitzer, BESydney Future Leader and Senior Lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney Business School and co-founder of U.lab, a multidisciplinary innovation hub, who then also led the three speakers in a fascinating Q&A session.

“Australia, and especially New South Wales, has a wealth of talent who are shaping the world’s future,” says Lyn Lewis-Smith, CEO BESydney. “At BESydney, we play an important role in highlighting their ground-breaking efforts in public forums and positioning Sydney as a leading global destination for business, research and learning.”

Cementing the city’s future-focus status, BESydney also announced Sydney has won hosting rights for the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) Symposium in April 2017.  This is the first time the ISDE Symposium will be hosted in Australia. It’s fitting given Google Maps had its genesis in Sydney with mapping start-up, Where 2 Technologies, sold to Google in October 2004.

“Hosting this global event positions Sydney and Australia to enjoy a greater role in our digital future while boosting interest in STEM careers,” Ms Lewis-Smith said. “For us, our efforts are about making a difference, sparking partnerships and spawning collaboration, and we have seen many success stories as a result.”
