Qantas except from the refreshed contact centre in Tasmania, announced that it will increase capacity between Launceston and Melbourne when its 110 seat Boeing 717 jet aircraft takes flight to support customer demand during summer.
Qantas has officially unveiled its refreshed premium contact centre in Hobart following a significant refurbishment, demonstrating its continued commitment to Tasmania.
The centre, which manages bookings and enquiries from Qantas’ premium Frequent Flyer members, has been transformed to include new workstations with sound proof panels, revamped meeting rooms and work pods, ergonomic adjustable sit or stand desks and floor to ceiling windows that provide views over the local landscape and Derwent River.
Tasmanian Premier The Hon Will Hodgman MP was at the centre to officially open the refreshed facility.
“Qantas has a long history of supporting not just Tasmanian tourism but local Tasmanian jobs,” said the Hon. Hodgman MP.
“This facility alone provides employment for more than 300 people in Hobart making Qantas one of the biggest employers in the region,” he said.
Qantas Executive Manager Customer & Commercial Relationships Vanessa Hudson said the improved centre represented Qantas’ continued investment in its employees, customers and the State.
“This refurbishment is an investment in our people who are committed to delivering premium service to our top Qantas Frequent Flyer members,” said Ms Hudson.
“Tasmania is extremely important to our network. We’ve recently refreshed our Qantas Club at Hobart Airport and commenced additional flights from Hobart to Sydney and Melbourne providing an additional 2,420 seats to and from Hobart each week.”
Qantas also announced that it will increase capacity between Launceston and Melbourne when its 110 seat Boeing 717 jet aircraft takes flight to support customer demand over the busy summer months with 11 peak days return services.
Flights between Hobart and Melbourne will also benefit over this peak period with larger 168 seat B737 aircraft operating on peak days.
Additional services from Sydney to Hobart will run on 31 December and 7 January to support customers travelling for the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.
Flights between Brisbane and Hobart will also be reintroduced on select dates in December and January.
Earlier this year Qantas refreshed its Qantas Club lounge and thanks to customer demand commenced a new business friendly flight schedule from Hobart to Sydney and Melbourne that provides more than 2,400 additional seats to and from Hobart each week travelling on the airline’s two-class Boeing 717 jet aircraft.
QantasLink currently operates 46 flights between Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney, as well 27 flights into Devonport and 27 into Launceston.
