Langkawi – It has been a little over a year since Langkawi International Convention Centre’s (LICC) opened its doors to the 26th ASEAN Summit in 2015, officially marking its first day as an operating venue host. Since then, the facility has hosted 26 events and entertained over 5,800 delegates and visitors, establishing the facility as the preferred choice for event planners looking to add a little luxury to their meetings.

Michael Schlueter, Managing Director of LICC, Westin Resort & Spa and St. Regis said, “As the ‘new kids on the block’, we are happy to share that we met our targeted number of events for our first year in operation. This achievement is a great boost and encouragement to continue promoting our offerings and packages to the industry. We are confident of adding more events to our 2016 calendar as we have been receiving positive responses, both short and long term, from our initial participation in international trade shows in Australia and China.

To celebrate its first year anniversary and show appreciation to current clients, LICC is giving a 5% discount off the master bill for group events, where participants are also guests of The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa. In addition to the 5% discount, LICC will also be providing group events with a complimentary two hours “Welcome Function”, inclusive of a selection of soft drinks and juices, as well as house wines or house beers.

Malaysian companies can also enjoy their annual dinner at a discounted rate. Available for a limited time, the special Annual Dinner Package includes complete table setting, basic AV system, early complimentary venue setup, pre-dinner drinks and a 10x15ft photo booth. The Annual Dinner Package is priced at RM150nett for a minimum of 200 guests.

Exclusively for Langkawi residents, LICC’s grandeur and elegance will surely bring any wedding fantasy to life. At a price of RM200nett per person (minimum 300 guests), the package offers great value, particularly as it also comes with complete table settings including table linen; tableware; chair covers and table centrepieces, tropical floral decoration for ceremonial area and a floral arch, bridal bouquet, groom’s boutonniere and a professional celebrant.

Inspired by the Malay songket design to reflect the local heritage and culture, the 5,685 sq metre centre offers conferencing, meeting and banqueting facilities in a lush tropical rainforest setting, overlooking the island’s famed white sandy beaches and the Andaman Sea. LICC Grand Ballroom with a capacity of 1,000 persons at 1,660 sq metres, can be divided into three rooms, and there are seven additional meeting rooms ranging from 21 sq metres to 1,660 sq metres.

Schlueter conclude, “The facility’s early success can be attributed to the island’s charms and beauty, as well as LICC’s reputation as THE Langkawi state-of-the-art MICE facility. The feedback we received so far is very positive and our offerings certainly seems to have appeal in many markets. We have a great team here at LICC and we look forward to achieving our targets for 2016.”
