Mandarin Oriental announces General Manager appointments in Asia

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced the appointments of Eric Kee as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Sanya in China, and Jan-Hendrik Meidinger as General Manager of The Excelsior in Hong Kong.

HONG KONG – Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced the appointments of Eric Kee as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Sanya in China, and Jan-Hendrik Meidinger as General Manager of The Excelsior in Hong Kong.
 
Eric Kee will join Mandarin Oriental, Sanya in May from his most recent role as General Manager of Pan Pacific, Xiamen. Eric has 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He first joined Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in 1996 as Senior Assistant Front Office Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Macau. He then worked with several hotel groups in China, Malaysia, Macau and Japan before returning to the Group in 2011 as Hotel Manager for The Excelsior, Hong Kong. 
 
Jan-Hendrik Meidinger also brings 25 years of luxury hospitality experience to Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. He joins The Excelsior from his most recent role as General Manager of Park Hyatt Saigon. Jan-Hendrik joined the Hyatt Group as Assistant Front Office Manager at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong in 1999, and rose to Executive Assistant Manager, Rooms. He was later appointed General Manager of Hyatt Regency Guam in 2010. A German national, Mr Meidinger graduated from the University of Surrey, UK, majoring in International Tourism and Hospitality Management. 
 
Anthony Costa has been appointed General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. Mr Costa began his career with the Group as Resident Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong in January 2007. He was General Manager of The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong for five years before moving to the helm of Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo. During his tenure, the hotel became the first and only hotel in Japan to be awarded the prestigious Forbes Five-Star rating by the annual Forbes Travel Guide Awards. 
 
Paul Jones has succeeded Anthony Costa as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo. With more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Mr Jones embarked on his career with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in 2005 as Hotel Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok. In 2008, he was appointed General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Singapore before leaving to oversee the launch of Mandarin Oriental, Taipei in 2012 where he has positioned the hotel as one of most iconic luxury properties in the region.
 
Michael Ziemer moves from The Excelsior, Hong Kong to succeed Paul Jones as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Taipei. With more than 30 years of hospitality experience, Mr Ziemer joined Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in 2003 as Resident Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. He was appointed General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Munich in September 2004, returning to Asia in 2007 to oversee the rebranding of Mandarin Oriental, Macau to Grand Lapa, Macau. Michael transferred to The Excelsior, Hong Kong as General Manager in February 2010. With many years of valuable experience in key locations, Michael is well positioned for his important new role in Taipei. Mr Ziemer’s successor at The Excelsior will be announced in due course.
