Newly launched Langkawi International Convention Centre newcomer at IT&CM China

Langkawi is the high-end tourism destination in Malaysia and this was one of the key reasons LICC was developed, providing Langkawi with a business tourism destination and facility of international standard, broadening the attractiveness of the island.

SHANGHAI – A team from the Langkawi International Convention Centre (LICC) is attending the Incentive Travels & Conventions, Meetings (IT&CM) China for the first time to introduce the latest world-class addition to Malaysia’s business events offerings; the newly launched convention centre in Langkawi, Malaysia.
Speaking on the sidelines, Michael Schlueter, the Managing Director of the Langkawi International Convention Centre (LICC), said, “China is an important target market for us, and we shall make the most of this occasion to showcase our offerings. LICC is located in a beautiful natural location on an island with a fabled history, yet offers its clients the best of modern meeting technology. With AirAsia’s direct flights from Guangzhou to Langkawi four times a week, we are confident that we will attract Chinese industry professionals with our distinctive packages and destination.
Langkawi is the high-end tourism destination in Malaysia and this was one of the key reasons LICC was developed, providing Langkawi with a business tourism destination and facility of international standard, broadening the attractiveness of the island.
Elaborating, LICC Director, Tengku Ramizan shared, “Langkawi is a perfect destination for business events looking to maximise their budget for work and play. It is easily accessible and offers an interesting alternative for event planners looking for something a bit more luxurious and different. With the opening of LICC, event planners finally have a world class facility to rely upon on the island and we are sure that our offer will be attractive for anyone looking to organise a unique event.
Tengku Ramizan, Director of Langkawi International Convention Centre (LICC), led the LICC team in promoting LICC to Chinese Industry Professionals.
LICC is a purpose built, state-of-the-art facility and its appeal as a destination for high-end business events in Langkawi is enhanced by its strategic location – close to the island’s shopping and commercial centre and by its proximity to the neighbouring The Westin Langkawi and the soon to be opened The St. Regis Langkawi – offering potential visitors some fantastic accommodation options.
Inspired by the Malay songket design to reflect the local heritage and culture, the 5,685 sq metre centre offers conferencing, meeting and banqueting facilities in a lush tropical rainforest setting, overlooking the island’s famed white sandy beaches and the Straits of Malacca. LICC Grand Ballroom with a capacity of 1,000 persons at 1,660 sq metres, can be divided into three rooms, and there are seven additional meeting rooms ranging from 21 sq metres to 1,660 sq metres.
Equipped with high end audio visual services such as Bose sound systems in all rooms, high ceilings measured at nine meters with mounted chandeliers providing an ornate ambience, a 93 sq metres VIP Suite, VIP holding room, lots of natural day light at the foyer areas and all function rooms being pillar-less, making it an ideal venue for international conferences, product launches, fashion shows and other niche functions.
He concluded, “Langkawi has much to offer as a luxury destination and we believe that the presence of our state-of-the-art facility, along with our growing reputation for successfully hosting significant and prestigious events, will increasingly tempt organisers in the business meetings and conventions industry to look to Langkawi to host their events. We are looking forward to a successful IT&CM and welcoming more events from China in the near future.
LICC celebrates their first anniversary with a record of 26 events, welcoming over 5,800 delegates and guests to their state-of-the-art facility since opening their doors in March 2016 to host the 26th ASEAN Summit.
