Sands China wins Outstanding Contribution Award in Beijing Summit Forum

Sands China is the only enterprise from Macao to be awarded.

MACAO – Sands China Ltd. has won an Outstanding Contribution Award at the Summit Forum for the Development of Foreign Enterprises in China. The award was given in Beijing Jan. 26 at the forum, an event jointly organised by Xinhuanet and the Business School of the Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing.

Sands China is in the company of several notable global enterprises recognised by the forum. Among the 10 recipients of an Outstanding Contribution Award are BMW, Samsung, AIA, Philips, Qualcomm, Nestle, Amway, and others. Sands China is the only enterprise from Macao to be awarded.

Sands China is honoured to be recognised in the Summit Forum,” said Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd. “Our company has long held the vision of establishing Macao as one of the region’s top destinations for business, leisure and family travellers. Our industry-leading integrated resort model continues to deliver outstanding experiences for our many guests and visitors, contributing to raising the global profile of Macao as a world-class tourist destination.

The award recognises Sands China as the leading developer, owner and operator of multi-use integrated resorts in Macao, citing the company’s commitment to promoting the diversified development of the tourism industry and to establishing Macao as a world centre of tourism and leisure.

Sands China’s integrated resorts offer a diversity of accommodation, entertainment, meeting and convention facilities, retail, and dining to well upward of 60 million visitors each year. With four properties in its Macao portfolio — The Venetian Macao, Sands Macao, The Plaza Macao and Sands Cotai Central — each provides a uniquely themed resort experience, from family-friendly offerings to highest-end luxury. The company’s newest integrated resort, The Parisian Macao, is opening in the second half of this year. Sands China is Macao’s largest private employer with more than 26,000 employees, and is the city’s largest operator of integrated resorts.

Sands China’s integrated resort model is a major supporter of the Macao government’s strategy to establish the city as a world centre of tourism and leisure. Despite the current challenging business environment in Macao, the company remains confident in the city’s potential for growth. Sands China expects the opening of The Parisian Macao to continue to drive demand, with the company growing together with Macao as the city moves toward the next level in its development.

Sands China’s current portfolio includes Cotai Expo, one of the largest convention and exhibition halls in Asia; the 15,000-seat Cotai Arena, host to Asia’s and the world’s biggest entertainment acts; Cotai Water Jet, one of two major high-speed ferry companies operating between Hong Kong and Macao; and other amenities and facilities. Its combined properties feature nearly 10,000 hotel rooms, over 100 different restaurants and food outlets, and more than 650 luxury and mid-market retail shops.
