Radisson Red fuels Asia Pacific growth with signing in first-tier China city

New brand continues with strong growth in the region with fifth signing.

GUANGZHOU, China – Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the world’s largest and most dynamic hotel groups, signed a management agreement for Radisson RED Guangzhou South Station. Owned by Guangzhou ROFO Real Estate Development Co., Ltd., this new-build hotel is the second Radisson RED hotel for Carlson Rezidor in China and its fifth in Asia Pacific. Radisson RED Guangzhou South Station is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2018 and brings Carlson Rezidor’s Asia Pacific pipeline to 91 hotels.

Radisson RED provides owners and developers a product that we believe will be a leader in the lifestyle segment. The brand appeals to guests who have an ageless millennial mindset, and truly redefines the guest experience,” said Thorsten Kirschke, president, Asia Pacific, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. “RED is bold, alive and design-driven while being creative in its functional use.

For Radisson RED the hotel experience is enhanced by art, music and fashion. The brand leverages local art and multi-functional design solutions to flow between spaces, breaking down the walls traditional hotels use to separate areas such as lobby, restaurants, bars and meeting spaces. Instead, Radisson RED marries these into one integrated, flowing ‘social hive.’ This same concept applies to RED’s signature food and beverage outlets OUIBAR and KTCHN, which again form a free flowing space where guests can enjoy locally sourced, sustainable food inspired by street fare served simply and efficiently accompanied by a Coffee + Craft culture focused on great local coffee and beer. Touches of Scandinavian design are evident in the guest rooms with efficient, modern, yet functional furniture pieces – highlighted by replacing the conventional desk with RED’s signature picnic table.

Radisson RED Guangzhou South Station is a 160-key hotel, strategically located in the new Central Business District of Panyu district, across from Guangzhou South Railway Station, which is the largest high-speed rail station in South China. In addition to being a major transportation hub that connects Guangzhou to Beijing, Hong Kong, Wuhan, Changsha, Shenzhen and Zhuhai, Guangzhou South Railway Station is part of the upcoming Guangzhou South Railway Station New Town, which has a focus on the trade, creative, logistics and finance industries.

Radisson RED Guangzhou South Station is also served by major expressways and is about 40 kilometers from Guangzhou International Airport. The hotel is also less than 2 kilometers from a new 80,000-seat stadium, one of China’s most popular football clubs. Radisson RED Guangzhou South Station is part of a mixed-use development, Union Plaza, which will also include office space and a mall. The hotel will have a distinctive design, featuring a sky lobby and an infinity pool.

We are very pleased to partner with Carlson Rezidor. With the expertise and experience of this leading global hospitality group, we are assured of a strong return on our investment. We are confident that Radisson RED Guangzhou South Station will be a great success,” said Marco Li, CEO of Guangzhou ROFO Real Estate Development Co., Ltd.

Radisson RED Guangzhou South Station is the fifth signing for the brand in Asia Pacific and 10th signing globally. Carlson Rezidor plans to open 60 Radisson RED hotels globally by 2020.
