Jin Jiang International Hotels wins China Golden Chef Award at 25th China Chef Festival

Founded in 1990, the China Chef Festival is a significant annual event at the high-end of the restaurant industry, hosted by the China Cuisine Association. The festival is regarded as the leading annual summit of Chinese chefs as well as the "Canton Fair" for the restaurant trade.

SHANGHAI – The 25th China Chef Festival came to a successful close at the recent Canton Fair. Over 30,000 culinary masters across the restaurant and food service sectors from over 30 of China’s provinces, cities and autonomous regions, South Korea, Japan and Malaysia, as well as representatives from the World Association of Cooks Societies (WACS) and leaders from across the international culinary industry gathered in Guangzhou to participate in the culinary competition. Qian Jilong, executive chef of DoubleTree by Hilton Shanghai – Pudong, a subsidiary of Shanghai Jin Jiang International Hotels (Group), won the competition and received the China Golden Chef Award. Shanghai Jin Jiang International Food & Catering Management Co., Ltd also walked away with the China Catering Industry Development Award.
 
The theme of this year’s festival, “promote Chinese cuisine and drive a transformation of the sector” signaled the industry’s drive to bring entrepreneurship and innovation into what is viewed as an industry with a highly traditional culture. The event highlighted cuisines with regional characteristics and the cooking skills associated with the unique flavors and essences of the regional cuisines while promoting the comprehensive development of the Chinese restaurant and food service sector. Shanghai Jin Jiang International Hotels (Group) sent an-eight person delegation to the event.
 
During the event, representatives from Shanghai Jin Jiang International Hotels (Group) were invited to the China Green Ingredients and Foods Exhibition and the Food Service Online to Offline (O2O) Forum, where they were able to catch up on the latest trends at the high end of the restaurant and food service sector as well as watch a series a feature presentations including a Chinese cuisine skill innovation competition, an international cuisines show and a culinary performance show. In addition, the representatives visited with and gained some important knowledge from restaurant industry training firms including Hong Kong Chinese Culinary Institute and Tao Heung Group. The visits allowed the representatives to increase their knowledge of the latest innovations in the restaurant trade, restaurant management, cooking skills, improvements in service quality as well as human resource management, especially in how to deal with constant changes in human resource needs.
 
The Jin Jiang executives said, “Through learning skills from and exchanging experiences with peers across the country during this China Chef Festival, we saw the great growth potential of the Chinese restaurant sector, increased our confidence and expanded our vision, gaining new inspiration on the direction, position and level of innovation of Jin Jiang’s future developments in food services. The development and prevalence of the Internet has brought into existence a whole new crop of emerging industries that has presented major challenges to the service sector. We need to spread Jin Jiang’s reputation in all things culinary at home and abroad through new thinking, new models and new technologies.
