The Royal Thai Government issued a Message of Confidence, informing Thai citizens and the international community that “With regards to the incident that occurred in the Ratchaprasong area on 17 August 2015, the details of which have been regularly announced by the Royal Thai Government pertaining to assistance provided to the injured, as well as investigations and relevant actions taken to bring the perpetrators to justice;

Additional security personnel, both in uniform and plainclothes, have been deployed to patrol every area so as to accord maximum security to the general public. In addition, the Royal Thai Government would like to convey to all foreigners who are planning on traveling to Thailand, be they for tourism, trade, educational or business purposes, or MICE, that the Government shall be doing its utmost to provide a safe and secure environment for the duration of your stay in Thailand, complemented with Thai friendliness and hospitality as always,” the Message concluded.

TAT, as the government body tasked with the mission to promote Thailand to potential visitors worldwide while also supporting the development of the country’s tourism industry, has been working closely with the Thai tourism industry members as well as all our travel partners across the world to provide regular updates on the current situation in the country. Immediate assistance has been extended to the affected people while we have been working to assure all our friends from around the world that Thailand remains amazing and welcoming.

As normality returned to the areas of the city most popular with tourists thanks to an increased security and police presence, TAT would like to once again assure all friends of Thailand that tourist events and activities are continuing as normal in Bangkok and throughout the country.
