Compass Hospitality acquires The Big Sleep Hotels’ portfolio in UK

The acquisition was jointly made with Singapore based Seacare Hospitality Pte Ltd.

Asia based Compass Hospitality Group has successfully completed the acquisition of The Big Sleep Hotels’ portfolio comprising three hotels in Cardiff, Cheltenham and Eastbourne in the United Kingdom. The acquisition was jointly made with Singapore based Seacare Hospitality Pte Ltd.

When the three hotels were first launched, Travel Trade Gazette described them as “travel lodges with sex appeal”.  Since then, they have undergone refurbishment and cater to business and leisure travelers with a keen eye on good hotel designs and affordability.

All the three hotels are well located. The 81-key hotel in Cardiff is located in the city centre opposite the Motorpoint Arena and the new St. David’s shopping arcade, all within walking distance of Cafe Quarter’s al fresco dining street, Cardiff Central railway station and Millennium Stadium.

The 60-key hotel in Cheltenham is located in the shopping hub along Bath Road and a short distance to Cheltenham Town Hall and Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum.

The 50-key hotel in Eastbourne has lovely sea view of the English Channel across the Western Lawns.  It is located 400 metres from Eastbourne Town Centre, 10 minutes’ walking distance from Eastbourne Pier, and 5 minutes’ drive away from Beachy Head’s white cliffs.

All the three hotels have a restaurant and bar as well as meeting rooms. Guest rooms of various sizes are offered and standard amenities include LCD TV, Wi-Fi, personal safe, hairdryer and coffee/tea making facilities. As part of providing accommodation to families, the hotels are pet friendly.

The hotels will be managed by Compass Hospitality which is already managing The Lion Hotel Shrewsbury and The White Swan Halifax in the UK as part of a portfolio comprising 49 properties located in Thailand, Malaysia and the UK.

Compass Hospitality’s President & CEO, Harmil Singh said, “We are very pleased with the portfolio acquisition of these three well located and profitable hotels. We will continue to seek out acquisitions and opportunities to grow our presence in the UK.”

Matthew Welbourn, Executive Vice President of UK Operations, added, “Our existing two hotels in Shrewsbury and Halifax have achieved significant performance improvements due to the well established distribution network at Compass Hospitality. We are confident that similar improvements will be achieved for these additional three hotels.”
