Kicking off on June 29 and lasting for 60 days, passengers with the LoungeBuddy App on their iPhone can receive customized information upon entry in the Cathay Pacific lounge at San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

SAN FRANCISCO – As part of a continued commitment to innovation, Cathay Pacific Airways – now with 17 non-stop weekly flights from San Francisco to Hong Kong – has partnered with the award-winning travel app, LoungeBuddy, to become the first airline at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to activate iBeacon technology to offer a more personalized and enhanced experience for guests using the airline’s Business and First Class lounge at SFO.

Kicking off on June 29 and lasting for 60 days, passengers with the LoungeBuddy App on their iPhone can receive customized information upon entry in the Cathay Pacific lounge at SFO. Information such as today’s food and beverage menu and an enhanced overview of the lounge’s available amenities will be instantly displayed on travelers’ iPhones using the lounge’s iBeacon network, as well as the option to check in on social media.

Passengers using LoungeBuddy to share their Cathay Pacific lounge experience to Twitter will be automatically entered to win a daily prize drawing for a limited-edition Cathay Pacific plush goat – commemorating the Chinese Zodiac year of the goat – and when sharing their lounge experience to either Twitter or Facebook, they will be entered to win the grand prize of 60,000 Asia Miles and one round-trip Premium Economy Class ticket to Hong Kong at the end of the promotion. No LoungeBuddy? No problem. Visitors may download it for free via the Apple App Store.

Cathay Pacific is renowned for its airport lounges, with The Pier First Class lounge at Hong Kong International Airport having just re-opened after an extensive renovation. SFO is the airline’s first and only branded lounge in the US, which opened at SFO International Terminal A in 2011. The lounge is built with the finest quality Carrara white marble & “China Black” granite, with warm bamboo wood finishes and panoramic windows offering an abundance of natural light, ensuring a consistent look and feel to the airline’s flagship lounges in Hong Kong and around the globe.

The dining area features Cathay Pacific’s world-renowned Noodle Bar, offering freshly prepared noodles such as Dan Dan Mien and Wonton Noodles in soup. A wide variety of hot and cold Western and Asian dishes are also available from the self-service counter.

Seven private workstations with desktop computers and internet access offer a convenient way to work or connect with family or friends. Complimentary WiFi is available throughout the lounge area. There are also three shower suites for those wishing to freshen up before their journey.

The lounge is open four hours prior to flight departure. Customers invited to enjoy the lounge are First and Business Class passengers departing on Cathay Pacific and oneworld carriers, and members of the Marco Polo Club with Silver Card status and above and oneworld Sapphire or above members.
