TAT, Thai tourism stakeholders paid visit to two of China’s leading travel agencies

The two courtesy calls by the Thai delegation, which was held from 21–22 May, 2015, at Astor House Hotel Shanghai to highlight the kingdom as a luxury destination that can cater to high-class Chinese travellers from Shanghai and other parts of China.

SHANGHAI – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and 21 Thai hoteliers and tourism-related business operators recently paid courtesy visit to two of China’s leading travel agencies, Ctrip International and On the road, at their offices in Shanghai.
 
The two courtesy calls by the Thai delegation, led by Mr. Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, TAT’s Executive Director of Advertising and Public Relations Department, formed part of Thailand’s participation of the “NOW Travel Asia Luxury Thailand List China Roadshow”, which was held from 21–22 May, 2015, at Astor House Hotel Shanghai to highlight the kingdom as a luxury destination that can cater to high-class Chinese travellers from Shanghai and other parts of China.
 
Mr. Chattan said, “The participation of the NOW Travel Asia Luxury Thailand List China Roadshow as well as the courtesy visit to Ctrip and On the Road is aimed to enhance the long-standing relations between Thai tourism businesses and China’s tourism stakeholders and media for further collaboration, especially on the outbound Chinese luxury segment to Thailand.
 
During the visit, Thai hoteliers and tourism-related business operators also signed a collaboration agreement with Ctrip’s executives for further business partnership.
 
Ctrip is a travel service provider for hotel accommodation, airline tickets and package tours in China, focusing primarily on business and leisure travellers. The company aggregates information on hotels and flights, and enables customers to make hotel and flight bookings. It also sells package tours that include transportation and accommodation, as well as guided tours.
 
On the road, as the first travel app in China has earned 20 million mobile users downloading since it was launched in 2011. Daily activity uses current accounts of more than 500,000. The application covers 439 main cities in China and other countries around the world, or comprising 41.8 per cent in Asia with Thailand being the most welcomed place (according to On the road’s data).
