Bumper month at the Brisbane Showgrounds

A series of national and local events featuring rugby league stars, politicians and financial experts will be staged across the Showgrounds and Royal International Convention Centre (Royal ICC).

Queensland’s biggest indoor / outdoor events precinct is set for a bumper May, with 34 events scheduled for the Brisbane Showgrounds.

A series of national and local events featuring rugby league stars, politicians and financial experts will be staged across the Showgrounds and Royal International Convention Centre (Royal ICC).

Major events include the Labour Day Festival which is expected to attract more than 25,000, the Illumi Run, the Pool, Spa and Outdoor Living Expo, the Brisbane Model Train Show and the Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) Federal Budget Breakfast.

Royal ICC General Manager Venue Sales and Marketing Sally Pulford said May would be one of the busiest months for the Royal ICC since opening in March, 2013.

We have 34 events occurring across 30 days and we are looking forward to providing our guests with five star service and award winning food and wine,’’ she said.

We are delighted to welcome high profile guests including former Australian Prime Minister John Howard at the PwC Federal Budget Breakfast plus the who’s who of rugby league at the Queensland Rugby League Naming of the Team Lunch.

Ms Pulford said the Brisbane Showgrounds was a proud venue sponsor for the Illumi Run on May 16, which is a new event for the precinct where guests run and dance their way through illumi glow water and dance zones.

About 5000 people are expected to attend the Illumi run, which raises funds for the McGrath Foundation,’’ she said.

Other events in May include national conferences – Austmine Association Conference and Exhibition and the AGOSCI 12th Biennial Conference, the ATSA Independent Living Expo and a number of black tie events including school formals and the UQ Faculty Balls.

Since opening in March, 2013 the Royal ICC has held more than 300 events and has had the honour of hosting Her Royal Highness, the Princess Royal (Princess Anne) at the 26th Commonwealth Agricultural Conference and Arnold Schwarzenegger at the Queensland Real Estate Agents’ Summit 2015.

The Royal ICC is located 1.5km from Brisbane’s CBD at the Brisbane Showgrounds.
