Across Asia, Khiri Travel honors Earth Day

Teams at each of Khiri Travel's 16 offices in eight countries held discussions on further steps to reduce waste in the office, home and on tours.

BANGKOK – Khiri Travel reinforced its commitment to long-term environmental sustainability by holding green events in seven Asian countries on Earth Day, 22 April.

In Phnom Penh, Khiri staff planted a herb garden in the office grounds. In Bali the staff learned from Book Greener, which encourages the booking of green hotels. In Vientiane the team initiated a Mekong River clean-up. In Colombo, Khiri launched a reusable water bottle campaign. The Khiri Ho Chi Minh City office welcomed an international consultant for a presentation on better waste management. In Bangkok, the Khiri Sustainability and Responsible Tourism Manager gave presentations on sustainable tourism at the International School Bangkok.

Khiri Travel also had 150 cotton ‘Earth Bags‘ painted by the Special People Foundation in Chiang Mai. Proceeds from the purchase of the bags go to the Foundation, which helps disabled young people. The colorfully decorated cotton bags will be used to reduce the use of plastic bags by Khiri staff and clients.
