KLCC: Notching up over 2 centuries of service

Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre honours 21 who were there from the beginning.

KUALA LUMPUR – For 21 Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) team members, their decade with the venue has been “an exhilarating ‘ride’ and I’m very proud to have been there to witness the Centre grow from ‘new kid on the block’ into Malaysia’s premier convention facility and one of the leading meetings venues in Asia-Pacific,” gushed a beaming Chen Soo Yoong, who joined the facility’s pre-opening team as Asset Manager in 2005 and today, is the Director of Facilities.

Clocking in a total 210 years of service, Chen and 20 other pre-opening team members were recognised for their hard work, commitment and years of service with the receipt of a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ and customised Long-Service gifts from General Manager, Alan Pryor

Congratulating the 21 team members on their milestone, Pryor shared the Centre is fortunate to have about 19% of current staff numbers who have been with the organisation  since the beginning and 41% or 132 who have notched up five years and more of service. “Their commitment and dedication are exemplary and an example for other team members to emulate.”

Talent development and retention have been, and remains, high on the Centre’s agenda. This attention to the ‘backbone’ of the organisation has paid off as evidenced by the below 2% in annual staff turnover since opening, and dropping to as low as 1.3% last year (2014),” added Pryor.

Since opening in June 2005, staff numbers have grown from 200 to 319 today.
