Amazing Thailand Romance Symposium promotes honeymoons in Thailand

The 2nd Amazing Thailand Romance Symposium, being held from 22-31 March, 2015, is promoting Thailand as a romantic destination for honeymooners, who can seek to celebrate their union by exploring the unique characteristics of Thai culture, the Thai way of life and Thai experience through hands-on activities; such as, Thai massage, Thai cooking, and Thai classical dance.

BANGKOK – The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s (TAT) Americas Region is, for the second consecutive year, arranging a familiarisation trip for leading US, Canada, and Latin America travel agents to learn about the varied  honeymoon destinations and products available in Thailand.

Mrs. Juthaporn Rerngronasa, TAT’s Deputy Governor for International Marketing (Europe, Africa, Middle East and America) said, “Thailand boasts a reputation as a romantic destination. It was recently voted as Asia’s Sexiest Romance/Honeymoon Destination 2015 by US-based Recommend Magazine while renowned travel site Fordors.com declared the island of Phuket to be One of the World’s Best Honeymoon Destinations for 2015.

Under the TAT’s 2015 Discover Thainess campaign, the 2nd Amazing Thailand Romance Symposium, being held from 22-31 March, 2015, is promoting Thailand as a romantic destination for honeymooners, who can seek to celebrate their union by exploring the unique characteristics of Thai culture, the Thai way of life and Thai experience through hands-on activities; such as, Thai massage, Thai cooking, and Thai classical dance.

The trip is being attended by representatives from 19 of the major honeymoon travel agents from the United States, Canada, and Latin America. They are visiting venues in Bangkok, Sukhothai, Chiang Mai and Samui, and will be introduced to the honeymoon travel packages available in each destination.

TAT has also invited honeymoon travel marketing expert – Ms. Jacgueline Johnson, President and CEO of the Global Bridal Group USA, to deliver speeches on honeymoon travel marketing strategies to Thai tourism experts. During the Symposium held in Bangkok on 24 March, and in Samui on 31 March, local hotels and tour operators also had the chance to discuss business with the visiting travel agents.

Honeymooners are a huge potential market for in-bound tourism to Thailand. Over 2.4 million US couples marry annually and 81 per cent of these honeymoon overseas for at least eight days, spending an average of US$6,700. The Caribbean has long been the destination of choice, but Thailand with its warm climate, stunning scenery and affordable, luxurious and private accommodation is attracting more visitors.

Mrs. Juthaporn said, “Thailand is the only Asian nation to establish an online training programme for overseas agents offering Thai honeymoon packages. Titled “Thai the Knot Specialist” the programme is in its fourth consecutive year and more than 1,600 North American travel agents have become Thailand Honeymoon Specialist Agents.”

TAT works with hotels, resorts and Thai tour operators to offer honeymoon travel packages that include romantic elements; such as, candle-lit dinners and exclusive spa packages.
