Top luxury brands showcase to Australian travel advisors

Increasingly Australian travellers, particularly luxury travellers, are recognising the value of travel advisors who can help them orchestrate their travel dreams and give them an experience that goes above and beyond their expectations.

SYDNEY – 32 of Europe, the Middle East and Asia’s best luxury travel products will head to Australia to showcase their products to 350 of Australia’s best luxury travel advisors at the sell out Virtuoso Australia Roadshow across four cities.

Increasingly Australian travellers, particularly luxury travellers, are recognising the value of travel advisors who can help them orchestrate their travel dreams and give them an experience that goes above and beyond their expectations.

We are seeing a polarisation of the Australian travel market between customers who are looking for the lowest priced distress product, and a growing number of those who value the personalised advice of a travel advisor who can create an experience in tune with their needs,” Virtuoso Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Michael Londregan said.

Luxury travellers in particular are looking for service that cuts out the interference created by the traditional booking process – through intermediaries – which eliminates direct contact with the final destination and opportunity for individual service delivery.”

The Australian Luxury Travel 2015 Survey showed us these travellers in particular, highly value experiences that make them feel pampered, like unexpected added touches, intuitive service and attention to personal needs.

Mr Londregan said both products and services such as hotel preferences and tour opportunities, as well as the consumer have recognised the value of direct relationships which offer personalised service and this is driving the desire of international hotels and travel products to engage with Australian travel advisors directly.

Competition from international luxury travel brands for a place at the Roadshow was high and we had many more products vying for the opportunity to meet an Australian Virtuoso advisor than we could accommodate.”

In the past 12 months we have increased the number of face-to-face ‘workshops’ we offer, where travel advisors sit down with international hotels and other travel product representatives and hear the latest they have to offer.”

It seems the more opportunities we create for these workshops, the greater the demand, which shows luxury products and luxury travel advisors are investing to develop closer relationships.”

It is important to recognise that it is almost impossible to VIP oneself and equally difficult to articulate how you would like that status delivered through an automated tick a box process.”

This advisor to supplier partnership provides the gateway to a more bespoke and personalised service where, the advisor might contact the hotel to let them know your dietary requirements or your interests and the hotel can then actively work to make your stay more enjoyable.”

The Australian Virtuoso Luxury Roadshow will take in four cities and will put representatives from luxury brands such as the Armani Hotel Milano and London’s Taj 51 Buckingham Gate in front of more than 350 Australian luxury travel advisors. Representatives from stop-over European destinations such as Gulf Ventures will also be attending.
