TAT hails co-branding partnership between Thai Smile Airways and Cartoon Network Amazone

Addressing a press conference at the launching ceremony, Mrs. Somrak Kumputch, Deputy Governor for Administration, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said that the partnership will help attract more family travel and enhance both the average length of stay and daily expenditure of visitors to Thailand.

BANGKOK – The co-branded marketing partnership between THAI Smile Airways and Cartoon Network Amazone will give a significant boost to Thailand’s tourism strategies and help meet the visitor arrivals and expenditure targets for 2015.
 
Addressing a press conference at the launching ceremony, Mrs. Somrak Kumputch, Deputy Governor for Administration, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said that the partnership will help attract more family travel and enhance both the average length of stay and daily expenditure of visitors to Thailand.
 
Thai Smile Airways is a subsidiary airline of national airline Thai Airways International. It flies only on regional routes. Cartoon Network Amazone, the world’s first Cartoon Network themed waterpark, opened to the public in October 2014, in Bang Saray, Thailand. Amazon Falls is the owner and operator of the Cartoon Network Amazone waterpark.

Thai Smile Airways has partnered with Amazon Falls to brand some of its aircraft with the name and logo of the theme park. The first is expected to take off in April 2015, just in time for Songkran, Thailand’s New Year holiday and water festival.
 
Onboard, passengers can expect to join popular characters including Finn the human, Jake the dog, Princess Bubblegum and Marceline from Adventure Time, one of Cartoon Network’s most popular original series airing on the Asia-Pacific’s leading kid’s channel.
 
Mrs. Somrak said, “The collaboration between THAI Smile Airways and Cartoon Network Amazone Waterpark will have a major impact on the Thai travel and tourism industry by raising the profile of the country and increasing the number of tourists to Thailand, which is in accordance with the TAT’s marketing strategies.”
 
TAT has consistently worked with tourism stakeholders to create new tourism products with the purpose of stimulating the partnership of stakeholders to create the collaborative effort aims to showcase Thailand as a fun-filled destination,” she said.
 
Also addressing the press conference were Captain Woranate Laprabang, Acting Chief Executive Officer of THAI Smile Airways, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chavanee Tongroach, Vice Minister for Tourism and Sports, Mr. Liakat Sultan Dhanji, CEO of Amazon Falls Co., Ltd and Ms. Melissa Tinker, Vice President for Cartoon Network Enterprises Asia Pacific.
 
Mr. Liakat Sultan Dhanji, CEO of Amazon Falls Co. Ltd., the owner and operator of Cartoon Network Amazone, said, “This partnership comes at the right time as both we and THAI Smile share the same goal of attracting international tourists to Thailand. We hope that the opening of the Cartoon Network Amazone waterpark, combined with the branded livery on the THAI Smile Airways’ fleet will appeal to family members traveling to the kingdom.
 
Ms. Tinker: “The opening of Cartoon Network Amazone this year was already a huge milestone for the Cartoon Network brand, not just in Thailand but globally. Now in 2015, we’re looking forward to taking off with THAI Smile Airways and seeing our iconic characters flying the skies. We congratulate both Amazon Falls and THAI Smile Airways on this creative partnership.
