X2 Kui Buri is awarded Asia’s Top Design Hotel by Now Travel Asia magazine

The resort is ranked top ten design hotels in the Asian region.

BANGKOK, Thailand – A regional English travel magazine Now Travel Asia reveals Asia’s Best in travel industry at the Gala Ceremony announcing Now Travel Asia Award winners. X2 Kui Buri is once again awarded a place in Asia’s top ten design hotels, for the second year consecutively. The award is divided in different categories including leisure, design, business, heritage, beach and family etc. The gala ceremony took place on December 4th, 2014 at Pathumwan Princess Hotel, Bangkok and it was presided over by Mr. Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, TAT’s Executive Director of Advertising and Public Relations Department.

NOW Travel Asia has been awarding 20 categories of travel businesses since 2012, and it has received tremendous interest and response from the subscribers, tourists, people in travel industry, and the general public in many countries. This year award ceremony is aimed to officially present the NOW Travel Asia Awards on the world stage and push NOW Travel Asia magazine as Asia’s leading travel magazine, as well as motivate the people in travel industry to be more aware of the growing market.

The 2014 NOW Travel Asia Awards Gala Ceremony was a success with over 200 leaders in travel and hospitality industries around Asia, including hotel, spa, airlines, restaurant and entertainment complex, attended the event and exchanged their ideas. NOW Travel Asia chose to host the prestigious event in Bangkok to bring back tourist confidence and let the world see that Bangkok is ready to impress everyone.

It is another great success for X2 Resorts Group especially X2 Kui Buri. I would like to thank our guests, magazine’s readers and everyone who voted for us. Your votes resulted in our resort being one of the Asia’s top ten design hotels once again for the second year. We will keep on maintaining high standard service and hope to welcome everyone to our resort,” said Mr. Supakit Uasamphanchai, X2 Resorts Group General Manager.

X2 Kui Buri was the brain-child collaboration of the owner, Anthony and Kaewjai McDonald and DBALP Duangrit Bunnag Architect Limited. The resort is designed and built with a primary goal that they must “satisfy the spirit”. This is partly achieved via architectural design, but more importantly through natural beauty of the location and the meshing of the structures with the canvas provided by nature. The idea for the use of stones comes from the seasonal appearance of sea pebbles that are found scattered along the beach during winter months. The “Mountain Rock” used throughout the resort are all from local quarries. The external stone walls of the villas appear as wall and not as a building, creating an invisibility of design. What is a structural wall for one villa appears as a fence wall to other villa. By using this invisible wall design and clever landscaping; villas are private without the need to be encased in four high fences. This reduces construction costs and importantly allows cool sea breezes to pass through the villa area with minimal disruption. It provides privacy without isolation.

A design resort of more than just beauty and high quality architecture…it is also about its integration with quality of service…..but of an untraditional nature.
