BANGKOK – The Glorious of Ayutthaya Fair 2014 is scheduled to be held from 12 to 21 December, 2014, at the Ayutthaya Historical Park compound, to celebrate the historical significance of the ancient Thai capital since the Ayutthaya Historical Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991.

To add the fun factor, the event will hold a country music concert during 12-13 December, a One-Tambon-One-Product (OTOP) fair, a caravan featuring more than 100 shops selling goods and food, as well as a mini-train station providing a shuttle service for tourists and visitors wanting to marvel at Ayutthaya’s historical sights.

Mrs. Vilaiwan said, “To celebrate the year of Discover Thainess in 2015, TAT would like to invite tourists and visitors to travel back in time to experience the ancient people’s way of life in a replica market of the Ayutthaya period at Wat Langka Khao, and enjoy folk performances and traditional Khon mask dances, which will be staged on a daily basis during this 10-day fair.

The traditional Ayutthaya market theme, where tourists and visitors will be able to enjoy the use of ancient coins to exchange for authentic Thai food and local products, is open daily from 16.00 – 21.00 hrs. The stage entertainment will take place twice a day, at 17.00 – 17.30 hrs. for folk performances, and at 17.30 – 19.00 hrs. for the Khon mask dances.

As well as the celebrations and displays of traditional Thai culture, the World Heritage city of Ayutthaya is also set to become unique running grounds for runners from all over the world during the Ayutthaya Marathon 2014 on 14 December.
