New waterfront dining launched at new-look Anchorage Port Stephens

Open from 11am to 10pm daily, the rebadged Galley Kitchen offers a tempting selection of share-plates featuring local seafood, fresh, regional produce and wines from the Hunter and beyond – all designed to be shared with family and friends.

A major $6 million redevelopment of the iconic Anchorage Port Stephens resort has seen the unveiling of a new dining venue called The Galley Kitchen offering sophisticated dining, local seafood and absolute water frontage.

Space occupied by the former Merretts Restaurant at Anchorage Port Stephens has been expanded to offer indoor and also outdoor, alfresco dining just feet from the blue, dolphin-filled waters of Port Stephens.

Open from 11am to 10pm daily, the rebadged Galley Kitchen offers a tempting selection of share-plates featuring local seafood, fresh, regional produce and wines from the Hunter and beyond – all designed to be shared with family and friends. The menu includes Port Stephens oysters, miso-glazed ocean trout brochettes, poached crab won tons, wagyu beef sliders, crispy leg of duck pancakes, rocky road mess.

The total redevelopment of the famous, world-class resort, located at Corlette in Port Stephens, has seen all 81 rooms upgraded, a transformation of the pool and deck areas, a new poolside bar and an upgrade of function and conference facilities including a new function marque for up to 180 guests to open in January, 2015, on the property’s western end to take advantage of spectacular sunsets over the yacht-dotted bay.

Stage two of the redevelopment next year by Newcastle-based The Wests Group will unfurl a transformed day spa and the opening late in 2015 of an upper-level Merretts Restaurant offering luxurious and intimate dining and stunning, elevated sea views.
