Hotel Indigo Lijiang Ancient Town : Six awards in six months

Hotel Indigo Lijiang Ancient Town is the fifth hotel from theupscale boutique hotel brand from InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) which opened in Greater China, openedon September 27, 2013 and continues to gain acclaim for its fresh design inspired by the Tea& HorseCaravanTrail across Yunnan in China.

LIJIANG, CHINA – Within the first six months of opening, Hotel Indigo Lijiang Ancient Town has been awarded six national awards as the hotel makes a real splash in Southwest China. The fifth Hotel Indigo from Intercontinental Hotel Group in China, Hotel Indigo Lijiang Ancient Town is really putting the UNESCO World Heritage site of Lijiang on the map as it continues to turn the heads of media and hotel experts across the country.
 
The hotel’s latest award comes from Voyage, one of China’s leading travel publications. Voted for by over 10,000 readers of the magazine, Hotel Indigo Lijiang Ancient Town came out on top in the “Most Anticipated Hotel” section in Voyage 10th Anniversary 2013 Travel Brand Annual Award. With over 1,000 high-end hotels vying for the awards, Hotel Indigo Lijiang Ancient Town collected the award on March 6 in Shanghai.
 
The hotel’s focus on design and the historical stories of its surrounding neighborhood have put Hotel Indigo Lijiang Ancient Town in the public eye as a bold step for the region. The last few months have also seen the hotel pick up the following awards:
 
“Best Newly Opened Hotel” – Tourism Overview
“Best New Hotel” – The Bund
“Best Indoor Public Space Design” Nomination – The Bund
“The Best Boutique Hotel” –  City Traveler
“Best New Arrival” – Hurun Report
 
Hotel Indigo Lijiang Ancient Town is styled as a modern ‘Post House’ along the ancient Tea&Horse Caravan Trail that used to run through Yunnan and Sichuan into Tibet over the last 800 years. Its fresh, alluring design isinfused with Naxi and Tibetan ethnic motifs and Tea&horse Caravan Trail references.
 
Further design inspiration comes from the natural splendor of the surrounding landscapes, particularly the abundance of flowers and the permanently snow-capped Jade Dragon Snow Mountain that stands proudly over the town. Each of the 70 guestrooms combines the local history and magnificent geographical features, making Hotel Indigo Lijiang Ancient Town stand far apart from other hotels.
