Sydney wins award for vision and innovation

The 2014 Prevue awards attracted 40 nominees from around the world. In addition to winning the ‘Return on Experience’ award, Sydney was shortlisted in the Destinations: International category.

Business Events Sydney (BESydney) has been awarded a 2014 Prevue Visionary Award for using technology to take a unique Sydney perspective to attendees at the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) 2014.

Visionary Awards are given to members of the meetings industry who demonstrate forward-thinking and innovation, particularly in the applications of new technology.

This year, the Sydney stand at AIME featured a replica of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, which spanned the Destination Sydney footprint. Visitors had the opportunity to climb the bridge and, by wearing the latest technology in theatre experience – iTVGoggles, enjoy stunning views of the highly acclaimed Vivid Sydney festival.

Lyn Lewis-Smith, CEO of BESydney said, “Sydney is a city that needs to be experienced. The iTVgoggles we used allowed us to virtually transport people from the tradeshow floor to our city, immersing them in the largest festival of music, light and ideas in the Southern Hemisphere.”

The BESydney team works hard to promote the strengths of our city and the benefits these can offer to the global business community. Client experience is always top of mind and we are thrilled to be awarded the ‘Return on Experience’ Pillar award in the Prevue Visionary Awards.

Business events that take place in Sydney tap into an unforgettable city renowned for work, life and play: at their fingertips they have opportunities for global trade and investment, research partnerships, future-shaping collaboration coupled with a stunning natural environment, and world-class dining, festivals and events.”

We are always looking for new ways to share what Sydney has to offer the world. Daring to be different certainly achieves wonderful results!” concluded Lyn Lewis-Smith.
