TravelSky taps power of Unisys ClearPath technology to meet requirements of China’s growing aviation sector

China's leading IT provider to air travel and tourism industry renews commitment to Unisys ClearPath Dorado technology with expanded processing capacity.

BLUE BELL, Pa. – Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) announced that TravelSky, the leading provider of information technology solutions for China’s air travel and tourism industry, has deepened its longstanding commitment to Unisys ClearPath technology in a new contract.

Under the contract, Unisys will upgrade and expand TravelSky’s processing capacity with the addition of advanced hardware and software including ClearPath Dorado Model 890 technology. The new technology will provide TravelSky with expanded processing capacity to handle growth in China’s aviation industry.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) forecasts that routes within or connected to China will be the single largest driver of passenger growth globally, accounting for 24 percent of new passengers during 2013-2017.

TravelSky maintains and operates several critical passenger and cargo solutions used by China’s air travel and tourism industries. As China’s aviation industry continues to grow, the additional processing capacity within the robust, secure and flexible ClearPath environment will enable us to process more transactions – such as reservations and load calculations critical to flight safety – quickly and securely,” said TravelSky Vice President, Mr. Zhu Xiaoxing.

Unisys ClearPath Dorado servers are at the heart of TravelSky’s IT infrastructure, which uses Unisys Extended Transaction Capacity clustering technology to provide unmatched levels of power, availability, manageability and responsiveness to dynamic changes in business requirements. In addition, use of Unisys’ proprietary secure partitioning (s-Par) technology will allow TravelSky to deploy secure and predictable environments for mission-critical passenger and cargo solutions through the creation of secure isolated partitions with dedicated memory, I/O, and storage.

Mr. Olivier Houri, president global transportation for Unisys, said: “With both domestic and international passenger traffic increasing in China, Unisys ClearPath technology provides TravelSky with the supporting IT infrastructure that has the flexibility and robust capacity to meet changing demands in logistics, passenger services and other mission-critical applications.

Unisys has more than 45 years of experience providing advanced, mission-critical IT solutions to the aviation industry. Fifteen of the top 25 airlines – and more than 200 worldwide – rely on Unisys solutions.
