Tourism New Zealand to showcase New Zealand at the 2014 Monaco Yacht Show

With Monaco Yacht Show the most-important event in the superyacht calendar, Tourism New Zealand’s presence is a key element of its premium strategy, intended to welcome increasing numbers of high value visitors to New Zealand.

Tourism New Zealand is excited to announce that they will once again be exhibiting at the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) at stand QJ3 on the Quai de Jarlan (New Zealand Street). Tourism New Zealand’s presence at the show is in partnership with Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED).

An interactive Destination New Zealand stand will showcase the country and provide a taster of all that awaits superyachts planning a visit to New Zealand.

For owners, captains, brokers and media alike this is the perfect opportunity to learn more about what makes New Zealand unique, and why it is becoming increasingly popular as a superyacht destination. New Zealand’s yachting infrastructure is strong and with 14,000km (8,700 miles) of pristine coastline to cruise, New Zealand also has ample onshore options, with luxury lodges, world class golf, spas, food and wine to complement the spectacular landscapes and activities the country is famed for.

Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, is the hub of this superyacht activity and a natural mecca for all things nautical.  As well as the stunning cruising opportunities of the Hauraki Gulf, Auckland offers a new marina, extensive refit services and a world-class city right on the marina’s doorstep.

A rare video interview with the owners of 42-metre The Big Blue, who spoke on why New Zealand was the highlight of their world tour, was released earlier this year and demonstrates why yacht owners who visit New Zealand will fall in love with the country. A high resolution copy of the video, together with new promotional collateral, will be available at the stand.

Tourism New Zealand will be on hand to offer advice and insight on luxury tourism experiences, supported by representatives from some of New Zealand’s leading superyacht agents and New Zealand Marine, to provide logistical information.

Our presence at Monaco Yacht Show is a crucial tool in growing this awareness and reaching yacht owners and their influencers.”

During the 2014 New Zealand summer, the country welcomed 37 superyachts from around the world and is looking to grow this number in the coming years.

Tourism New Zealand has been working alongside other government and industry bodies, including Auckland Tourism Events and Economic Development (ATEED), New Zealand Trade & Enterprise and New Zealand Marine to jointly promote the country as a superyacht destination.

The joint strategy effforts of this collective have already experienced positive results with the 2014 summer season being the busiest for visiting superyachts since New Zealand hosted the America’s Cup in 2000.
