Tigerair Australia celebrates 15 millionth passenger with special three day sale

Today’s sale features four popular routes with 1,500 seats to fly either way between Sydney and Adelaide, Melbourne and Adelaide, Brisbane and Cairns and Gold Coast and Sydney.

Tigerair Australia is celebrating flying its 15 millionth passenger since domestic operations first began on 23 November 2007, with a special three day sale commencing from 3:00 pm AEST (Tuesday 16 September 2014) featuring 1,500 seats on sale until midnight Tuesday for selected travel in 2015.

Today’s sale features four popular routes with 1,500 seats to fly either way between Sydney and Adelaide, Melbourne and Adelaide, Brisbane and Cairns and Gold Coast and Sydney.

Tomorrow, (Wednesday 17 September 2014) from 3pm until midnight, another 1,500 seats will go on sale on another four selected routes and the same will occur on Thursday 17 September, the final day of the three day sale.

Tigerair Australia’s Head of Communications, Vanessa Regan, says that today’s celebration marks yet another significant milestone for the airline as it continues to go from strength to strength and more Australians choose to fly Tigerair.

The 15 millionth passenger is Maggie Rutjens, a part time musician and social work student at the University of South Australia who is travelling back from Sydney to Adelaide following weekend gigs in Byron Bay and Brisbane with her band Timberwolf.

Ms. Rutjens, who sings harmony and plays percussion with the band, was presented with a $1,500 travel voucher ahead of her return leg which she will use to get to future Timberwolf gigs around the country.

I’ve flown a lot with Tigerair in the past and love the fact that they are both affordable and accessible,” said Ms. Rutjens. “Collectively we are a group of friends who are trying to get out there and establish a rapport with the music industry. For a studying musician who isn’t loaded with cash Tigerair is a great way of making this happen.

Tigerair launched the new Sydney – Adelaide route in March 2014 along with the new Brisbane – Adelaide route which collectively provide over 70% additional visitor seats annually through South Australia. Tigerair has now carried over 5.7 million passengers through Sydney Airport and well over two million passengers through Adelaide Airport.

Reflecting on today’s milestone, Ms. Regan says that as Tigerair’s footprint continues to grow the airline remains committed to being the consumer champion when it comes to providing value and choice for Australian consumers.

Wherever we fly we not only provide consistently great value fares, but also bring healthy competition to the market.
